********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

down to 86% now with only a few text sent and wifi on.Thats a bit better.I hope it is a software glitch that can be improved with an update.I really like my phone but having to disable everything to make it last isnt what i would call a smart phone.lol.
Has anybody got one of the external case battery packs at all? Wondering if its worth getting one perhaps.

mm tempted to upgrade my 4 - if anything for the 64gig ....

I've been looking at past sale prices etc - and obviously I'd have to buy the 4s before sellijng the 4 - so a bit of gamble -but do people reckon 280 would be a worst case sale scenario for a Black 4 - 32 gig - about 15 months old - with no obvious marks etc - in a decent case?

This is where I'm at..

73%
Usage: 1hr 35mins
Standby: 1 Day 4hrs

That seems pretty good going. :)

Well the hard reset i did yesterday seems to have helped to some extent, Seems to drain a lot less, though it still lots about 10% overnight....

Going to do a restore in a mo....

Yeah from what i've read, on the Apple forums and alike, if you do a restore to default via iTunes and set up the phone fresh again, without restoring from a backup.

I have no idea how effective it really is, just what i've seen on other sites...

After doing a hard reset, full charge and stopped time GPS bug thingy, I'm at...

89%
Usage 1Hr, 4Mins
Standby 4Hrs, 42Mins

Slightly better - Although I haven't been using it much today...

Well... could be worse. I am not a happy bunny about battery life...

O.O

Jeebus!

There is some sort of massive bug, or maybe I don't understand something about IOS. This morning I got popup updates from one game and one magazine on newstand, when BOTH have notifications disabled in notifications part of the settings panel. What's more bizarre, both apps were closed last night.

This is why I don't restore from a backup..

(my usage posted earlier is with everything on except, "setting time zone", "traffic", "diagnostics", "iAds" and Bluetooth).

^^^ And that is why i've just done a restore and am now just setting it up from fresh. :)

EVH, did you let iTunes sync your apps?

So all you had transferred from your old iphone was contacts? Sorry I'm new to getting a replacement phone and I'm curious as to what steps you took exactly to get the data onto your new one :)

Trouble is, there is so much 'snake oil' being passed around on internet forums about supposed ways of improving the battery life. Mac Rumours being the biggest culprit I've seen. Of course turning off unnecessary services helps, but there is all kinds of stuff being said with no actual proof it makes any difference.

Next I expect somebody to say:

"Do a full restore, while holding down the Home button and standing on your head... it improved my battery".

Put your phone in the fridge ... and the battery will last longer! :p

I did the hard reset thing yesterday then a full charge up to 100% and unplugged last night before I went to bed.

So far I'm at 56% remaining after 16h25m standby and 2h49m usage! :(
