********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Mine is just on a full charge now.

Battery lasted the following

4 hours 30min usage
1day 1 hours

A fair amount of Words with friends played and quite a bit of street fighter 2

I still dont know what is causing push.apple.com 5223. There is a monster of a thread regarding it here

Here's my setup

Itunes account, ping and facetime disabled in restrictions
Mobile network search, location based time, iads, traffic all off.
Location services just on for find my phone, compass calibration and diagnostics and usage
Notifications on for phone, messages and calendar
itunes store signed out
Brightness just below half all the time
Manual fetch on email
Cloud for contacts, calendar, notes, bookmarks

Other than turning off wireless and mobile data, what can be done to find out what push.apple.com is?

Is it better to leave it until the battery has fully drained then a full recharge, charge every now and again when its at whatever % or wait until its almost drained? The past couple of times I have left it until it runs right out, then a fullcharge

Ok, here are my stats. Everything bar Bluetooth is on. I have disabled from location services Diagnostic and Usage, Location based i-Ads and setting time zone. Email is set to push.

This would indicate that my phone/battery is screwed. Either that or you have a super rare iphone battery. I thought most last around a day - a day and a half of normal usage.

Judging by that, yours would last about 4

I have just turned off Diagnostic and Usage. Dont think it will magically increase my battery life threefold though

You should only be drowning it to 0% and then charging it all the way up, like once a month.

Like my phone is now on 81%, 1hour 58 usage (still don't quite get high), 11hours 33minutes. Normally though my usage is around 4-6 hours when I charge it.

I'm experiencing similar power consumption to this - mine will often be on 70% at around 20 hours, but then I have everything (including bluetooth) bar time zone location services on.

Going to try and leave mine off of charge now until tomorrow night so will post usage again after 48 hrs.

My replacement phone is on 16% after

Usage 4 hours 9 mins
Standby 1 Day 13 hours.

Easily as good as my iPhone 4 and as good as I'd expect, settings are all the same as my 1st 4S, restored from iCould.

Hi,

Just a quick question regarding SIM cards.

I've 'upgraded' my trusty 2g iPhone to the new 4S and it will take a while before it arrives. My current SIM is 2 years old on my 02 simplicity plan.

Do i need to order a Micro SIM? Ive not taken out my current SIM, so im not sure if its breakable? Or will they provide me with a new SIM card with the iPhone?

Sorry if it seems silly, im just not sure what exactly it is i need to do!

Cheers. :D

(Cant wait to try it out, it will hopefully be a nice upgrade from the 2007 model!)

Go into an O2 shop and ask for a Micro SIM. You can transfer the number and plan yourself with an online form thing you fill out, it only takes a few minutes to transfer.

The difference is night and day, honestly.

Never had the 2g but it certainly will be. I came from a 3gs and its loads faster, camera and screen are a lot better

Regarding your simcard - You can cut down your simcard and make it fit, or ring your service provider and ask them to transfer your number to it. My friend at work went into o2 and they gave him one and his number transferred after about 2 hours

I rang Tesco and they tld me they would send one but it would take 3 days to properly transfer to the new simcard

I used the following guide to cut mine down myself

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/05/sim-trim-cutting-card-down-to-microsim-size/

I did it with kitchen scissors and I think I even cut away some of the gold contact, no problems though.

I also bought one of these which works perfectly. (allows me to put my cut down sim into a different phone if needed)

hi, so like this is the iphone 4S thread so i guess i could post my problem here =)

anyways, i was wandering what i should go for if getting the 4S. contract or PAYG
(im guessing this is a good idea since im upgrading from n73 to iPhone 4S xD)

i will be using this for 1-2 years. so u lot will probably suggest the contract.

but since i only use the internet most, texting and rarely calling, i dont think i can use up everything, which maybe a waste of money. (as i could just pay £10 a month on giffgaff and survive on that xD). although internet on that network sucks since its always slooow!
heard i that 3 was good, but not sure since i never used 3 =/

apart from this, i just wanted a vague answer to when the iphone 5 will be release. will it be soon? or what. because im going to upgrade from n73 to iPhone 4S and id be ****ed if it was release early next year or something. =/

Well now mine is dropping fast, it's gone from lasting nearly 3 days to today I will be lucky if I get home from work before it dies.

I will return mine this week and carry on with my 3G until they find a fix I think.

Read on techradar about how so many iPhone 4S and iOS 5 upgraders having so many problems with battery life. I must be quick lucky with my 4S? i get at least 2 days, 2 and a half most of the time. Very VERY happy with the battery life.

I was the same mine on standy is now dropping just less than 10% an hour. I'd wait it out for a fix but I'm close to the 14 day returns period. They can have it back and use someone else as a guinea pig. :D
