********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Read on techradar about how so many iPhone 4S and iOS 5 upgraders having so many problems with battery life. I must be quick lucky with my 4S? i get at least 2 days, 2 and a half most of the time. Very VERY happy with the battery life.

Would be interesting to restore an iphone 4S to IOS 4.1, if this is even possible.

I know its possible to restore to older IOS but not sure about the 4S.

Siri and other things like that wouldnt work but I dont use it anyway

Looks like it will be possible http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxtWi2zb3Ck

However icloud would probably not work, which I use for my contacts, calendar, notes and bookmarks.

Well, I've been hoping it would get better, but it hasn't yet.

Currently on 35% after 18 hours, with usage reported as 9 hours. I've used it for about 30 minutes today.

I get roughly the same pattern after a restore from backup (iTunes of iCloud) or set up as a new phone.

Will be going into Apple Store soon to see if they can sort it out.

Just as an exercise, before you go to bed, plug the phone to charger for few minutes, just to reset the "Usage" counter, reboot the phone, then without playing with it leave it be until morning. In the morning check if it still shows high usage. Since you know it should be showing few minutes tops vs several hours standby, if the usage figure is high it means it's a rogue processes running as service/daemon. If the counter shows correct usage in the morning, you'll just need to try and track down which of the apps you open during the day doesn't exit properly and keep on running in the background after you close it causing high usage and battery drain.

Have you turned off location time, ping etc?

My battery seems to be holding out longer than when I first got the phone

Usage - 2 hours 9 mins
Standby - 1 days 0 hours
Battery left - 51%

Guaranteed it wont last until this time tomorrow. It seems to drop faster when around 20 - 30%

Well my high usage problems have returned to my replacement phone, though the battery is lasting much longer than my first phone. 16 hours standby with 10 hours usage today, battery at 26%. I think something I did today started it, I did open friend finder but can't remember what else.

Mine still seems to be working ok:
