The file linked above is a dmg, would the file be within the dmg?

EDIT: To answer my own question, the file is within the dmg, i extracted it, opened itunes, shift clicked Update and located the file.

Updating now, I'll let people know how it is once i've used it a while

Is there going to be any adverse effects to using 5.01 before it's released to the public?

I've read before you early birds getting stung when iTunes and iOS updated when you were using the Dev builds.

I'm installing now too, worth the risk I feel, as you said I can always restore from a previous backup.

I tethered mine before I'd even left the Apple store. Beware that it eats the battery though, almost on a par with Sat Nav.

Simple fix for the time zone 'issue' is to turn it off, surely? That's why there's that option. Unless you're travelling every day I doubt it'll be any inconvenience. :)

Mine still gets through 25-30% on a quiet day. Mostly that's down to having wi-fi on and syncing with six email accounts. Fair enough I suppose.

No, the whole point was to say that i have upgraded to ios 5.0.1 beta, the time zone issue is still there. I have disabled it, it was only a quick test. The battery is still worse than 5.0 for me.

To the poster about tethering, if you were using android 2.1 or below the networks cannot lock the tethering. In android 2.2+ it allowed networks to control tethering. Beware that ios may allow your network to block tethering if you were using android 2.1 or below.
