********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

On 5.0.1 as well now, didn't really seem to have a "huge" problem before though was shorter battery life than my old iphone 4. on 5.0 I would typically see 5 - 5.5 hours usage and last the day. Best I saw was 6.5 hours usage

Usage is facebook, twitter, imessage, rss reader, games, web browsing, 3 push email accounts, few phone calls etc. iCloud is on, same as siri, location services, notifications.

Time zone and the others are off aside from network search one.

Currently on 5.0.1:

71% battery left
Usage - 2 hours 5 mins
Standby - 6 hours 12 mins

Usually charge my phone overnight but gonna leave it tonight and see how it runs for the day.

What are the update specifics of the 5.0.1 update? My battery seems to be a lot better since when I first got the phone. There are a few more things off now (location time, ping etc) and I dont want the 5.0.1 update to make my battery worse (fix one thing, break 2 type situation)

I took it off charge last night at 23:30
Now (at 08:40) its now on 98%

Usage 10 mins
Standby 9 Hours , 11 minutes

Granted it doesnt hold like this all the time, but then im using it throughout the day, a few text a few calls, some words with friends.

It lasted just over a day and a half last time it was charged and this included about an hour of street fighter 2 on the bus, epic citadel for ~15 mins and some real racing 2

In short, I dont really have a problem with my battery anymore. At first it went through about 12% overnight! (no use at all)

iOS 5.0.1 beta contains improvements and other bug fixes including:

Fixes bugs affecting battery life
Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation
Contains security improvements
------

I got a 10% drop over night and usage went up by 16 minutes. Had 1 facebook notification and 1 email. I'm just doing a fresh install rather than from backup just to be 100% sure for testing.

Same as me then, worse battery. Hopefully they sort it out, any way to go back to 5.0?

EDIT: Restoring from an ispw I downloaded of 5.0

Think ill wait until its properly out and a few more people have tested 5.0.1 before I update.

...Doesnt sound great though!

5.0.1 Beta 2 seems to have fixed my battery problems. Beta 1 didn't do much, but I've had it on standby for 2 hours, and it's still on 100%. On beta 1, it would be on 95% or so by now.

I'll report back and see how long it stays on 100% for.

Mine on 5.0.0 now stays on 100% standby overnight (for about 8 hours)

If 5.0.1 Beta 2 improves on this I will be very happy.

Currently on

Usuage - 4 hours 2 mins
Standby 1 day, 10 hours

Thats with a fair amount of 2d and 3d gaming though

I learnt my lesson yesterday. If I'm at home, keep the phone on charge. It had been on like overnight and all day, I made quick plans and went out around 8pm on 15%. Turned off Wi-fi, turned off mobile data, lowered brightness. A few texts and a few hours later and I was down to like 4%!

I'm still getting loads of rogue usage on beta 2, roughly half the time it's on is reported as usage. Going to give it a good charge and see how it goes overnight. Will see if I have any time to mess about with it tomorrow.

I'm really happy with mine now
