********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

I wasn't looking at the iPhone 4 one, but I can just imagine a lot of posts were about the death grip?

Anyone got anything else to say about the phone then ;)?

Its about 10 times faster than my 3GS, screen is a lot better, camera is a lot better, recording sound quality is good (for a phone/camera)

With my 3GS I would get no connectivity sometimes in my bedroom, it has never dropped to this with my 4S. Strange, must have improved signal strength or something

No idea why all the adverts are based around Siri, Siri can run on a jailbroken 4 and 3GS...and is rubbish anyway. Why would I ask it thing for it to confirm first and more than likely get them wrong. I could do it myself quicker.

They should base adverts around the speed and camera

Siri works really well for what it's intended to do but we have a bit of a cut down version in the UK at the moment.

Its the best voice recognition software I have used. However its more like a 69p app. Agreed, it will be better when it has proper UK support for locations and businesses.

Until then, its turned off on my phone its a useless feature. I can do it faster so why would I want an assistant doing it.

Would be impressed if someone could provide a video of it doing some useful, i.e -

set alarm for tomorrow 6.30am
set calendar meeting at 1pm - lunch

or show it writing a whole text message without it writing a load of garbage

It sets reminders, plays music, writes quick text messages and phones particular numbers when I don't want to look down whilst driving. :)

Isn't that what it does on their ads?

And a plethora of videos from users on youtube. I have personally done both really easily. Do you have an accent of any kind (Guest2) . There are certain things that it gets wrong but if you think about why that might have happened, there is usually a pretty good reason. Proper free form speech recognition is ridiculously hard to do and it will be a long time before it is anywhere approaching perfect.

Don't believe you. When I can tell Siri to "remind me to call Dave at 3pm tomorrow" and it does it, I simply don't believe you can create such a reminder faster manually.

ok,

so ive got my iphone 4s, seen that everyone has been having battery issues.

but is mine any different?

charged the phone fully.
played with it till its 90%
then i turned wireless, service locations and anything thats running off. and put on standby
slept (9 hours to be exactly, i think)
when i woke up the next day, it was 67% 0.0?
thats like a chunk off my battery life.

is this normal, due to the software issue with iOS 5?

or have i got a faulty phone and should think about getting a replacement/refund?.

When in airplane mode overnight, I lost about 3% battery life. Why not use that? You don't need the phone active when you're asleep.

The point is you shouldn't have to - why does the battery run down so much when the phone is sitting idle and not being used?

You don't have to take the battery out of your car every night!

Quick question guys. Why on earth is tethering not allowed by most networks by default? I have an orange contract and I am pretty sure I have to pay extra to tether. My data allowance is just that, MY data allowance. What possible reason could they have for this limitation other than to squeeze more money out of me.

Still havent made my mind up on buying a smartphone yet so just wanted to get your feedback on the iphone 4s.

How are you all generally finding the experience?

Can someone explain how I can do a full charge? :)

Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I ran my iPhone 4s battery Completely down. I plugged it in to the mains. After a couple of minutes it turned on. I powered it off and left it charging for 8+ hours. I turned it on and looked at the usage, the standby and usage didn't reset and it stated that the iPhone has been plugged in since the last full charge.

Anyone got any ideas?
