********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

So what's the general verdict on the 4S a few months in? Sounds like the battery issues should hopefully be resolved soon with a software update.

I'm asking as I'm pretty tired of my 3G and wouldn't mind upgrading (currently paying £20 on O2 Simplicity) and would probably switch to Three with the £35 a month All-in-One plan where the phone's £99 up front.

I think it's pretty much the best all round phone. I've actually opted for a Galaxy Nexus as I mainly web browse and fancy the 720p 4.7" screen, but I'd be just as happy with a 4S. I may still get one anyway.

Going from a 3G the 4S will blow your mind :p ... I remember playing Angry Birds on my friends 3G and there was delay between pulling the bird back and it actually firing forward :)

Going from a 3GS myself it is a noticeable upgrade! The biggest one is the screen, so much more vibrant and responsive. The speed is also incredible. I haven't really played around with the camera or even downloaded any new apps yet so still have a lot more to explore.

Siri is also a lot more than just a gimmick. Holding it up and saying ''remind me to go into uni at 2pm tomorrow'' - is a great deal quicker than you could set the reminder yourself manually. Even sending a text while on the move using Siri is brilliant. So far it hasn't misinterpreted what I've said once, even when muffling into it when in bed. So long as you pronounce your words correctly it will understand. It will only get better once it has UK destinations. There is room for improvement, e.g I have five separate alarms to wake up every morning, however I can't just tell Siri to ''switch all alarms on'' - it just brings up my alarm screen.

Has anybody here had any experience of using an old iPhone 4 Pixelskin HD case for the 4S? I'd like to use my old case but am unsure of whether it will affect functionality of the 4S or not. Speck have supposedly changed the design a little to cater for the 4S, but am not exactly sure what these changes are though.

It'd be a shame to have to buy pretty much the same case again if it can be avoided.

Well I took the plunge today. Was going to go for Three then decided just to buy it outright from the Apple store. Nice and speedy so far, so no complaints there. Just charging up to max and then I guess I'll see about the battery life. Siri seems to struggle to understand my Northern Irish brogue sadly, but hopefully it'll learn over time.

Is the Speck Pixelskin HD the same for both iPhone 4 and 4S? They only had the iPhone 4 one in the Belfast Apple shop.

So just got my iphone 4s 64gb white :)

What applications are an absolute must?
Bank doesnt offer phone insurance so whats the best?
Do I need a bumper/case or is the material good enough on it own for protection?

Does anyone use the following pouch:

http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H...ero-Series-Case-for-iPhone-4?fnode=MTY1NDA0NA

I've put a screen protector on my phone but can feel a noticable difference on the screen and it just doesn't feel as good with it on. Just wanted to know whether I could use the above case without using a screen protector?

My current pouch is quite rough on the inside and isn't the best of quality, however the price reflects that so I can't complain. Just wanted to see if anyone had used it before I order it.

(Not a fan of cases and bumpers etc - one of the biggest pro's and what a premium is paid for is the actual quality of the device itself. Covering it with an ugly permanent case is silly :p)

How often are folks charging their 4S?

I'm usually left with about 20% or so from a day of medium-heavy use and so I'm just throwing it on to charge overnight but I don't want to knacker the battery...

Is it likely my local store (belfast) will have a 16gig 4s in stock or are they still back ordered?

Student loan just came in :D

I checked the o2 store in Connswater online, it said they had none in stock Yesterday. When I went at lunch time they had a lot of models.

Castle Lane & Castlecourt also had plenty in stock, as did the high street in Bangor. Good luck :)

just setting up my friends iPhone 4s, siri only searched in USA? or am I missing something, set up itunes for him etc.

just wondered if it needed updating etc?

can someone tell me the essential things i need to do for this iphone, managed to sync all contacts from his Blackberry over to his iPhone 4s.

Thanks

Has anyone tried playing back 720p MKVs on the 4S? I've read the iPad 2 is fast enough to handle them being software decoded and curious if the 4S can too. Obviously need to use an app as the default Video one doesn't support MKV.

Absolutely loving my iphone and no buyers remorse whatsoever despite shelling out £700 rofl.

Only problem I have is the lack of flash player when browsing which has been a bigger concern than I originally thought it may be, this is due to watching things like swtor videos on the main site or trying to watch something on twitch or veetle etc.

Its possible due to applications but its more time consuming and applications like twitch.tv dont support over 480p for mobile browsing which sucks as I cant even see whats going on.

Everything else is all ace!
