********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

How often are folks charging their 4S?

I'm usually left with about 20% or so from a day of medium-heavy use and so I'm just throwing it on to charge overnight but I don't want to knacker the battery...

2-3 days out of it generally, I don't leave it on overnight.

Is the 4S a worthwhile upgrade from a 4? I'm at the end of my contract with orange and my sister has her eyes on my 4 (she's suffering a slow old iPhone 3G)

Wow - you've diteched the Lumia already?

Yup, the battery didn't last more than 6 hours when I used it like I use my iPhone - I even had it replaced by the Nokia rep at Phone4U for an older model without the <1000mAh battery issue, that didn't help much at all, still got under 7hrs out of it. It's a shame really as Windows Phone has so much potential!

This Reservation BS is doing my head in. All I want to do is walk into an Apple Store and buy a phone, but this is apparently impossible, even though they had phones in stock, I need to try and reserve one at 9PM. 9PM comes, 4 million people try to use the reservations website and the whole thing slows to a crawl, making it almost impossible to reserve one. Finally the website loads, I pick my store, size, sign in to apple and it gives me a "We’re sorry, but there are no pickup dates available at this store. " error.

All I want to do is upgrade my ancient 3G to a 4S, but Apple seem to be trying their hardest to stop me from buying a new phone. It's ridiculous.

I was doing the same before christmas (one for the wife), just gave in after a few nights and ordered online and it was delivered within 2 weeks.

Have you tried going into a store first thing anyway? Local one to me said that they always get more stock than just those for the reservations so if you are early enough you have a good chance of getting one.

Anyone else had problems regarding signal? Got my 4s from Apple and was using my o2 sim in it, all was working fine until about a week and a half ago when my o2 sim kept dropping signal and going no service. Got a T-mobile sim atm which works perfectly fine where as the o2 one still doesnts. I've had my o2 account checked and there are no problems with it yet it fails to work in the 4s.. Any ideas? Cant get to bluewater atm :(

Perhaps a basestation has gone down?

Chuck you postcode in this - http://status.o2.co.uk/ to see if there are any problems in your area.

The 0% finance offer and the fact that my (terrible) xperia x10 mini pro is on its last legs has sent me over the edge. I should receive my first ever iphone next week. :)

Checked the site also had a replacement sim.. The sim works in my old Phone but not my iPhone :/ yet my t-mobile sim works Perfectly fine in the 4s :/

Just had my first iPhone 4S freeze where I had to resort to holding power button + home button for approc. 10 secs to force a restart.
Happens to my friend often enough. If it becomes persistent is it one of those things we're expected to live with or should I attempt to exchange it? It's about a month old.

Edit - when I say freeze, I mean the screen is black and unresponsive. The battery is fully charged.

Hi guys,

I've just noticed my iphone has 2.5GB of 'other' stored on it? Is that normal...

I've tried clearing up Safari which I understand accumulates a lot of cache but it has shifted it :(

Any ideas?

'Other' contains album artwork and i think could include email etc as well.

It's shocking that Apple seem to not want to sell iPhones sim free. Mate of mine went to get one on a contract today, got one absolutely no problem, pick of capacity and colour. I then try to get one sim-free and am told no chance. I can understand that they want me to pay £1000+ over a couple of years than £500 in one go, but they're going to get nothing from me anymore.

What? Apple do sell them sim-free... what are you talking about?

Of course they do, but they have no sim-free phones in stock at all, even though there are plenty of phones there for contracts. Yes I can order one online, but that could turn up anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks from now.

Get it elsewhere then.
