********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Finally got fed up with android and its abysmal market and programs that are just poor,
So I sold my sensation and bought a 32gb iphone 4s, and omg I love it, so much more polished and refined than android.

But like most others here, the battery life sucks, I'm getting about 32 hrs with very little or no use or about 18 - 20hrs with heavier use. regardless of my real usage the phone always reports 50 - 85% use in comparison to standby times even though its not me using it.
Looking through these posts I see an ios beta 3 looking like it fixes the usage part so kills whatever is draining everyone battery, but anyone know how long before it gets released?.

That seems pretty good to me?

I think my battery life is good compared to some people in here but in general is quite poor.
Even my htc sensation could go 2 to 2.5 days with use.
Can't wait to see the battery life when the issues get fixed in ios.

I really can't see it getting improved, if there was a big gremlin causing a drain i would have been fixed by now.

Depends on what "little to no use" means. If no use means the occasional text, but nothing much beyond that, 32 hours is quite poor. I guess I'd get around 32 hours with my normal use, on 3G (waking up at 8 at around 100%, getting back home after an hour of phone calls and some surfing/texting with around 65% or so left. Okay, after typing that, I'd actually say longer. I'd get home in time to put the thing on charge on the second day.

oli356, sounds like a battery meter calibration problem...a full discharge then charge back up might help, then normal use afterwards.

There is a definite bug with the current IOS that I think affects most people.

If your Usage and Standby in General > Usage tracks really close to each other then you have the bug, if it's more like 30 minutes usage to a day when your not using it much your phone is fine.

Annoyingly my phone seemed to fix itself while I was in Scotland over xmas, it stayed fixed for about 3 weeks until I needed to restart the phone where the bug came straight back.

Without the bug the battery was using maybe 20% per day, with the bug it's about 80% per day.

I really can't believe they haven't fixed this yet, it's a complete **** take and really make them look like they simply don't give a ****. Any other phone would have been slated if it did this for so many months.

Oh and I've tried everything so far to fix this bug, nothing has worked for me. It seems like pure luck if you get it or not every time you start the phone.

Has anyone installed the Beta 5.1 os?

I did over a week ago and the battery amazing at the moment, I have the ability to turn of just 3G and I no longer suffer from that annoying signal drop where the phone gets stuck with No service on in Searching...

At the moment I run with 3G off all the time, and my phone with good usage lasts over two days easily now.

If, they improve on the Beta even more we could end up with the phone being vastly improved compared to its state at release.

See my post from a couple pages back :)

Ah, good stuff.

I agree, the current beta is a good step in the right direction.
It boggles the mind that simple things like the 3G switch were omitted in the first place.

I read so many posts with people claiming it was impossible and that the chip set used in the phone couldn't allow it.

They all promptly disappeared after Beta 3 came around :D

I suspect it's related to Apple controlling the user experience.

Siri needs 3G and people toggling it off might be confused when it doesn't work and get a bad impression.

The 3G switch is still there on the 4.
