So, I got a 4S last tuesday but booked into a apple genius bar this, battery life is simply shocking.

Hopefully a replacement phone improves it like it has for a lot of people.

Done all the steps which help it first? Disabling location services, time zone setting etc etc?

Have to... shouldn't. Even with my replacement and that phones battery replacement I still do it anyway because I know it helps. Though I've hardly got any apps on my phone currently I'm happy enough with the battery it's getting me through the day and I'm carrying around my charger pack and cable; shouldn't have to.... but big deal =/
 
Anyone know why i cannot send SMS off of this?

Tried all methods google as gave me and the message centre number is right....

EDIT: sorted it, had to go to settings/phone/my number and put +44

Pretty dissapointed with the battery life on my new 4s. Loosing about 3-4% a hour in standby with tweaks and most things turned off (it was worse to start with). I have an old 3g with a knackered battery which barely lasted the day, but this is worse. At least with the 3g in standby it didnt drain so fast.
Not sure if this is a normal rate? Weird thing is usage is at 1hr 50 mins but i've made two very short calls (couple of minutes). On 5.0.1
 
Yeah it seems to be some network providers with 4s = bad battery.

Current known bad in the office is O2 and Vodafone in London. Current working fine is Tesco mobile and GiffGaff in London.

Tesco mobile and GiffGaff use the O2 network which is really weird.

I called up O2 and they gave me new settings I've not seen before online but it hasn't helped so I'm trying to decide on jumping over to GiffGaff or staying with O2 who have given me a crazy deal to try and keep me.

Galaxy S II would have been a better deal as you can pick them up on contract for £20 a month now, also Asus Transformer Prime is now available, better screen, processor etc and comes with a keyboard dock.

Oh well, Enjoy your Apple stuffs.
 
My 4s battery life is just taking the biscuit at the minute. I took it off charge at 9am and just left it to see how long the battery would last. at 4.30pm the battery died, 7.5 hours on stand by and its empty. It has been ok but the last week it has been crazy. Done all the correct things IE settings wise. Gonna have to get to the apple shop as soon as I'm well enough. Really frustrating.
 
I've booked myself and my girlfriend into to see the genius bar today at lakeside due to the battery life being so poor on our 4s's. It is the genius bar I need to see right, as I've read people getting replacement iPhones in store are having better battery life.
 
We both got a replacement was simple enough - so far pretty sure it's the same battery life wise.

Just going to do a full restore from new as we speak then see how i get on tomorrow if not, then i'll have to consider selling it.
 
wow my battery issues are fixed, I'm at 2days 21hrs standby with 20% battery left. I was going to go to either tesco mobile or giffgaff as I've tried their sims and found them to fix my battery. As a last attempt I got a new sim card from O2 which has fixed my battery. The old sim card was maybe 1 1/2 years old and looks fairly different to the new one. Worth a shot for anyone having issues.
 
The GF's 4s has stopped charging when switched on now - it has to be off to charge on either usb or mains. itunes doesnt detect it when it's plugged in, either. Other than the obvious inconvenient trip to the nearest Apple store to get it fixed, has anybody else got any ideas, anything we could try? I've had a google around it it seems other people have had this issue with the 4s as well as previous iphones but there isn't a lot of information on the problem or the cause of it. I'm guessing something to do with usb connectivity has died lol. It's only a few weeks old :/
