********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Not had a full cycle yet but phone on 14% after 4.5 useage and nearly 24 hours standby. Not sure if that's good but my htc desire would have been dead yesterday after I got home from work. Usage was mixture of music video and web

My standby is ok, last night 8 hours sleep and it lost 6% battery it's just when it's in use it depletes at a silly rate. March 9th for the fix or this is for up for sale.

Finally hopped on the bandwagon and got myself a white 4S (16GB). My 3GS was slowing down a touch with iOS 5 and this is blisteringly fast in comparison. Will have to try out the camera etc as I've not had chance yet but there's plenty of change to play!

After a week of owning the 4s another issue appears. Not only is the battery just pathetic. Now the signal were i live messes up quite a bit. It shows there is signal but you cant call out or send a text.

Have to keep turning it on and off to get it back. When you try and call out it does nothing at times, and when you end the call that screen stays there untill turning off.

My brother has just got one also on tmobile with that monster plan. He cant get any reception at all. Any tips on getting a signal as my mate also has tmobile and he gets reception.

No idea what the issue is gonna assume software.

Gonna take mine back this week and get a new one hopefully. Do you have to visit an apple store or can i go to O2 were i got it ?

Any advice would be great.

One of the girls at work says her sister and dad both have a 4S and they both found the battery life was worse when the phone was in a case. Personally I doubt it unless the cases were made of some kind of material that blocks signals.

Reading all these problems makes me think I'm best off sticking with my 4 for now even though I am due an upgrade.

We went straight from the 3GS to the 4 so why not 4S to 5?

iPhone - 1st Generation - sometimes referred to as the iPhone 2G due to it only connecting via Edge
iPhone 3G - 2nd Generation - 3G was it's main differentiator so it was added to the name.
iPhone 3GS - 3rd Generation - Supped up 3G
iPhone 4 - 4th Generation - Case redesign and speed boost
iPhone 4S - 5th Generation - Same design as 4 but again, boosted speed
iPhone 6 - 6th Generation

In terms of marketing, there was never an iPhone 2, so I wouldn't be surprised if they skipped 5.

I like the number scheme personally, Apple only make 1 phone anyway and release a new one anually so I don't see the point of having different names. It's not exactly hard but then people would have to remember the name of the phone :p

Quick question,
I have a iPhone 4 here with quite a few paid apps on it. Will transferring these to my iTunes and then wiping the phone, creating a new Apple ID and transferring the apps still make them work fully etc or will i need to pay for them again on the new Apple ID?

Thanks

Not sure if this is a giffgaff thing or a iOS thing or a jailbreaking thing.. had it a few times before "could not activate cellular data network", I normally just reset the network settings and re-enter them and I'm OK. That's not working right now, tried restarts and that's not either :(

EDIT: GiffGaff forum got lots of complaints so a fault and not my phone :)

Kind of irrelevant that your mate gets reception unless he lives with you! Sounds like you need to switch to a different network, doubt it's anything to do with the phone.

Well I'm chucking mine if 5.1 doesn't sort out my Wifi issue, if the iPad3 comes out with the same issues I'm going to cry.

If 5.1 doesn't sort it I think I might try a Galaxy Nexus or S3 and buy one of the new Transformers. The apple store blanked me on the WiFi chip set issues thats well documented on their forums when I went into Braehead in Glasgow.
Their little update as well to the OS didn't sort my default number shown and random disappearing contact names from text issues either.

Just got an iphone 4s. Can someone explain to me (or point me to where I need to look) why Siri US/Australia can understand me, but siri UK doesnt (I am scottish and know it isnt perfect for my accent but I dont get why the US/auzy one atleast attempts to get me, where as the UK guy doesnt even attempt it) :S.

Thanks

if this is a result of porting a number (I.e. having one number one day, and a different next) then you have to set this manually in one or two places
