********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Sorry but where is this info coming from? Why are they advertising £499 for the 16GB if you think it will be £399?

As I said, I don't have a reputable source, I just typed into Google "iPhone 4S UK Pricing" and thats what came up on a couple of sites

Can I just ask people who are already on 3 a question.

Are they really as good as they say they are on things like 3GS; best coverage in UK etc?

Their contract minutes and data seem to be double everyone else for slightly cheaper or the same price as others.

Thanks.

Went in to orange store today to see if they had any info on prices the guy couldnt say fair enough i thought but the cheeky sod asked if i would be interested in the galaxy s2 i just started laughing at him and said i dont like fisher price products lol i could feel the knifes in my back as i was walking out

I was with 3 briefly. Terrible coverage

I have been with o2, vodafone, orange, 3 and tesco. Tesco is definately the best. o2 coverage with good customer support. I am currently with Tesco on a 12 month sim only contract.

£12.50 / month for 5000 text, 500 mins and 1gb data.

In the areas which I go most, O2 coverage was poor, Orange has always been pretty good and 3 beats the rest of them hands down. It's far better than 3 was, better than Orange and significantly better than my works Vodafone device.

It all depends on your area, it's impossible to say which is better for everyone because coverage over the country varies so much.

Suffice it to say, I'm very happy with 3.

Tesco is just a virtual network piggy backing onto o2, so if o2 is crap for you, so will Tesco. Remember that the uk uses 2 frequencies, and most of the time, if one of the frequencies is pants, the other will be better....can't remember which network is on which frequencies though

they have been brilliant for me. i get 3g every where. The only place where i haven't got signal is at the back of my mates house where no one else gets signal. haven't got a bad word to say against. i often have signal where friends on o2 etc dont

It was a few years ago when 3 was'nt very big when I was with them

o2 were good but customer service was terrible. Same with Orange and Vodafone. Vodafone coverage was better for me than orange but not as good as o2 or Tesco

We changed to Orange where I used to work so save some money and we would have to ring them all the time to be told that "masts were down" and that no coverage was available for x amount of time. Fantastic!

Maybe I will sample 3 when again when my contract with tesco is up. What are their deal with anytime minutes? Is 3 customer service better than the big players?

Ive called tesco a few tmes now and got through very fast on all occasions. Once I had lost my phone and sim on sat night. Sunday night I called up and on monday I received a new sim with transferred credit from my old one!

When I tried this with Orange and Vodafone, I had to pay for the sim card and it took 4 days to arrive

Anyway... will try and get back on topic of the Iphone 4S now

Wil lthe mic be any bette rthan the iphone 4 or will I have to buy an external mic. What is a good one for audio (live gigs) recording thats not a professional mic and costs £100+ and is massive?

3 recently got voted as having the worst customer service out of all the mobile phone companies, I've only had to talk to them once and they were courteous, polite and helpful and my issue was resolved very quickly so my findings don't agree with that.

And Rebecca, the doris in my local 3 store is very cute.

Very happy with Three here too.
My iPhone4 is on O2 and my SGS2 is on Three. I can always get good 3G speeds from Three.

Who uses 900Mhz? Think its only O2 and Vodafone - definitely though something Im going to consider when my SIMO contracts up

ps3ud0

The thing that I wonder about to do with the screens is: if they make the screen bigger, what resolution would they use?

They'd either have to:

- keep the resolution the same, meaning it wouldn't be 'Retina' (326ppi) anymore
- Keep it at Retina levels, meaning we'd have an irregular new size and all apps would need to be resized
- Use some multiplier of the current levels (eg 1.5 the number of pixels), so that apps could be rescaled more easily, but this would mean cramming even more pixels into a small space

I can't see them creating a new size as all current apps would look odd on it, I don't think they'd keep the resolution the same, as the ppi would decrease, making for a worse screen overall, so would they have to use the third option?

Trust me you wouldn't notice the difference if the screen went to 4" and the res stayed the same. Seriously.

I went from 3.7" to 4.3" and there was no extra pixelation at 480*800. And I'm fussy when it comes to screen quality.

do we have any idea on stock ?

That's not something they are going to publicise.

Suffice to say, the Apple Stores always have plenty of stock, but the downside is the queuing for hours to get one.

Of course other places will have limited stock, so if you want to buy elsewhere, it probably pays to get there early.

I'm going to be buying mine online this time.
I queued to get my iPhone 3G a few days after launch and that was pretty boring. I also queued first thing on a Sunday morning to get an iPad2, despite it being a good few weeks after the launch, though the stock was quite limited. Again, that was a good hour and I really can't be arsed with that again.

The problem is that Apple want to set things up for you or sell you other items. It's not like there is a separate queue just for people who want to buy one and leave.

thing is im due a mid contract upgrade with o2 now
im not going to get much off it but it will be someting, i just with o2 would put their prices up, so i know whats what
