The AMD Driver Thread

Think I found a bug with latest drivers 17.2.1, grass is flickering in Elder Scrolls Online, so have to disable that in ESO settings, I reported it to AMD, did not have this issue with previous drivers.

They removed the colour options, they said if enough people keep asking them for them to come back, then they'll consider it :p

They better bring them back by the time I upgrade my 480 or I'll go back to Nvidia just for the colour settings etc...

Personally rather have saturation, colour settings back then the Relive crap.

I can understand some people higher the brightness us for games like Dayz, Monitor has option "Black equalizer" But for Colours do you guy change all the time? Why not just calibrate your monitor the correct way using built in Monitor settings and be done with it?

Am sure these settings will come back within time you after remember here I hearing 80% of the AMD driver team is working on VEGA drivers for release.

I understand the reason as some monitors especially asus have poor color and gamma defaults without the control to change them. On the asus we have to use one of the presets for better color but it crushes black. On the older drivers we would use standard and just add some saturation to fix it.

On my Benq monitor there is no need to do this as it has sufficient controls to get an excellent picture.

No adaptor no, one cable with "normal" DP on one end and mini-DP on the other.

I've been playing Steep, another Ubi game, with Freesync working just fine but The Division always seems to be problematic (note that it used to work fine, but that was months ago).

Ill give The Division a try myself. I know they broke native fullscreen in patch 1.5 and for some reason haven't fixed it yet. The windowed freesync support we are suppose to have in ReLive never worked for me sadly in any game that ive tested with the exception of one(cant remember the name).

With some monitors the brightness/contrast wont as low as we'd like,, also I find tweaking the brightness/contrast on my monitor too much, it messes up the colours\sharpness, so that why I alter both on monitor and in ati, so not to alter one or the other too much.

Settings still there for me... ;)

Still on 16.11.5 :p

I refuse to touch those buggy **** 17.x.x relive drivers, maybe I'll jump on the next version or the version after that... :p

Thankfully I don't need any software calibration controls as my monitor already has a ton of fine tuning options besides, I hate using any 3rd party software tweaks/.icc profiles because some games/applications ignore said settings/profiles and some will even reset the settings e.g. crysis 3 does this every single time...

It's a pretty poor show from AMD. My PC couldn't be any more basic. It's a 4790k, 8gb's of ram, Win 10 pro and one Fury tri-x. Nothing unusual yet Crimson seems awfully slow if you have a lot of games installed. I have 6 tb's of HDD space with over 1000 games installed on it and moving between windows in Crimson has a delay which has an 'it isn't responding' message if you get impatient and press it again. There's at least a 6 or 7 second delay before anything you do gets a response. RAPTR was quicker as was CCC ffs.

I don't run Afterburner usually. I noticed the fps was below 30 when it's usually above 60 because it was not smooth so using Steams in game fps counter it told me it was that low so I ran gpu-z which told me it was hanging around at 300 to 500 on the core.

I then started Afterburner to see if it could be pushed up by adding a small over clock but it did nothing so I put it all back to stock turned the pc off and turned it back on after dinner to try again.

It was still the same.
N
nVidias control panel takes around 4-5 seconds to open no matter the amount of games installed. Second having a 1000 games stored on what i assume is mechanical drives(correct me if im wrong here :) ) is going to have to take some time when it comes to profile loading. Your use scenario is extremely niche im afraid. I myself have a 500gb drive and 300gb of a 1tb mechanical drive full of games and yet Radeon Settings are loading near instant, no more than 0,5 of a second. But dont get me wrong. I get the frustration. I to would be frustrated if i had the same issue as you. Infact i was when i had nvidia in the computer.

Really don't understand why you don't just try the latest drivers. What's the worst that could happen?
For me, the first few relive drivers have been incredibly buggy so I cba trying them out again until a few more updates to polish them further :p

Besides, no need for me as I don't need any of the latest changes + I don't use any of the new features anyway.

these ones are the first of the ReLive batch that haven't given me a nightmare with black screens, screen corruption on 2nd monitor, core clocks sticking, system freezes....the list goes on.

I think you should give these a go Nex mate, like I said these are the best ones of the bunch so far.

Ah ok, sounds like they have much improved then! Will hold of for now though, not playing any of the latest games etc. so don't need any of the improvements etc. yet.

How inept is that, AMD have left out color options, back to Nvidia I go.

If you guys want to start a thread on the AMD forums to ask for these colour options to be reinstated, I'll ensure your voice is heard internally.

Has anyone took the time to make the thread on the AMD forum as Matt suggested?
If so can I have a link as I just went to find it and add my name but couldn't see it.

Thanks, let me know how it goes on your end. I've just bought a new and supposedly better Display Port cable, will give it another try.

EDIT: new cable didn't change anything, still no Freesync with The Division
