I guess thats when its on its own but if you was cycling you would have your phone which would do all the hard work.

Correct, however the point about cycling was that the watch is currently really only offering general fitness "activity" tracking and running/swimming but doesn't seem to mention cycling. My current sports watch has a programme for running, running indoors, cycling, cycling indoors and other. More expensive models (not as much as Apple Watch) also offer swimming.

Perhaps they'll add it in via software.

Oh is it? The Verge review seemed to say it was mainly focused on running and that other activities were merely given a second-thought.

Today I used my watch in fitness tracker mode for nearly two hours. The heart rate monitor was running but I don't know about the GPS because I was also carrying my phone. I guess there's no way to know what device had the GPS active.

I've just put it on charge and it had only dropped to 74%. With the old watch, at the end of each day, it was normally between 40% and 50%

I need to repeat this but leave my phone at home.

Bit of a daft question, but complete Apple Watch n00b. If I left my phone at home and took out my watch, would you still receive the notifications? Txt email etc? Or would I have to have my iPhone near at all times for bluetooth to work...
