So looking at these, but now I have the opportunity to get a Series 0, if you like, stainless steel watch for £150, and I can't help but think that's a far better deal than £300 for a series 1 sport.

Opinions? Should I grab it?

Absolutly yes, for that price.

I have the 0 series ss and wont be upgrading untill there is a major hardwear upgrade.

Well I've gone for the 42mm Alu Series 2. Really impressed so far. Battery seems good so far, wearing it from 7am until 11pm and its at 46% with lots of notifications and 'playing' with it - but no workouts. Even got the unlock function to work with my MacBook. Just need to work out how I tell the wife I've spent £400 on 'just a fancy fitbit'...!

Dead easy. I found myself answering a text from Mrs. Feek using scribble in the supermarket the other day without even realising it.

It works with all models, it's a WatchOS3 feature.

Think I'm going to pick up a Series 2.

Looking at the Apple website the delivery time is 3-4 weeks, and pickup in store is a 4th November. Is this just due to low stock, or am I missing something?

Very good deal. Did you get it? What strap did it come with?

Yup stock issue. Some stores have some for collection now, but some (looking at you Belfast) have nothing until the 8th November.

But weirdly the John Lewis website has some stock now, but the Apple website doesn't. They haven't many left though.

I finally managed to get to an Apple Store yesterday and had a proper Apple Watch S2 try-on and play. I'm torn between which version to get, I much prefer the SS finish over Aluminium and the slight extra weight of the SS doesn't bother me.

I'm just struggling though to justify spending the money on something ultimately that'll go out of date.

Picked up a 42mm Series 2 Silver Aluminium Apple watch on Saturday from my local Argos, really surprised they were in stock.

My previous watch was a 42mm Stainless steel body.

Very pleased with it, much brighter display using the watch direct sunlight today but what has really impressed me the most is the series 2 battery life, it was at 100% this morning when I put the watch on my wrist at 7.50 am its now sitting at 88% and its now 15.43 pm.

My old model would be at 60% charge if I was really lucky.

Tried out the gps yesterday when I took my dog for a walk (4 miles) yesterday which worked perfectly too.

I windsurf and paddleboard so I will be trying out the watch once I am out on the water again.

All in all very happy I took the plunge excuse the pun! & upgraded.

I really want to purchase a smart watch but don't know if I can justify it to myself.

What are the main perks you guys have found since owning one. Or more importantly, could you live without one now?

Just ordered a 42mm Alu Series 2 for £99 through my life insurance provider (I have to be active each week though otherwise I pay monthly installments). Can't believe it's a 3-4 week delivery! I guess Apple underestimated how popular they'd be once GPS and waterproofing were added.

The GPS was the feature I was waiting for. When cycling it's a non-issue as I always have my phone with me, but for running I don't want to have to strap it to my arm as it looks tremendously dorky!

Being able to read messages without taking my phone out of my pocket. It's nice to be able to reply and it works surprisingly well but only for short replies.

Apple Pay on the watch is great, just yesterday I was on the underground at rush hour (hell on earth!!) and it was great to not need to fish my phone out to go through the ticket barriers.

Or more importantly, could you live without one now?

Yes, absolutely. The watch is a niece thing to have and is very convenient but there's no way I would say it's an essential.

I would struggle without my Apple Watch now.

I had the first gen but gave it away as there wasn't enough features for me, but now on my new 2nd gen, it is so much more functional.

I use it everyday to track my workouts, it unlocks my Mac(s), it sends me authentication approvals when using two-factor authentication for sites like Microsoft, I share my workouts with my brother, I sometimes take phone calls when my iPhone is upstairs, I can actually send text and Whatsapp messages using the excellent scribble feature. When I go to the airport, my boarding pass is on my wrist.

I find I use my iPhone for Apple Pay, but then I have my phone out anyway to scan items which then upload to the self-service machines using the Waitrose app.

Just ordered

42mm Black Stainless Steel with Black Milanese Loop
Apple Care+ For Apple Watch
Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock

Delivery won't be until 23-30 Nov. It's going to be my Birthday/Xmas present anyway.

Managed to grab a 38mm Gold Aluminium Series 2 from the JL website at the weekend. They only had the concrete strap version in stock, but I bought a few 3rd party straps anyway.

So I'm in Malaysia currently and can grab a 42mm version for £360

I've always been tempted by one but just don't know if I actually need one!? Do you guys find you're happy with your purchase?
