it really is pretty daft to compare the situations, fact is Barca DID make an offer for Cesc, and Henry, and Hleb. Legal wizardry is a bit overstating it, its just not legal to sign a professional contract before a certain age, meaning any player can be poached.
Barca are in a bad place, great players, great youth setup, but a solid team which half the team has a decade left to play, for a young player especially in midfield, the future is fairly bleak, their own success and massive quality make a player see better chances elsewhere, Cesc, now the new kid.
But make no mistake, we'd have gone utterly mental if they signed Wilshire by grabbing him before he signed a professional contract.
The simple fact is, if/when Cesc goes, we'll be compensated, we were compensated for other players going. Kids are essentially "with" their clubs but not signed too their clubs, meaning people can steal them, if kids were allowed to sign contracts at 12 or 13, you'd simply never have this issue.
We're also giving kids this age in this situation a LOT of power to negotiate silly wages for a young kid as they can start a bidding war essentially.
Personally I do think its incredibly bad to nick a kid, if Wilshire had gone to Barca for 150k, I'd have gone mental, one day before they can sign a professional contract, get 150k compensation, signed that contral, get 10mil, its a bit of a joke and everyones vunerable.
