***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

do you have windows 8?

Windows 7

You may get stutter when bottlenecking but if it's purely that it's probably Windows 7! They're looking at fixing that today IIRC

Oh and no not necessarily, generally high usage could be a sign too :) It's more of a tell tail if you look at your GPU usage over both cards :)

There was a patch about an hour ago.
It has cured some of the stutter, it's still there though, to some extent.

GPU usage over both cores is now higher after the patch & fps is higher on average. GPU usage is fluctuating between 70 and 100% but more in the 88% range now. CPU usage is now showing 90% across all 8 threads. As a comparison BF3 shows 80% CPU usage and roughly 80% GPU usage but is as smooth as butter.

I have heard several people say that windows 7 ruined the experience for them. Try to install W8. You'll need w8 for Dx11.2 anyways. ( is it 11.2?)

I'll try 8.1 when it's released. I don't want to install the preview, then a a couple of weeks have to install the final build.

I still think it is an SLI/driver issue though
Single card is silky smooth, GPU at 100%
SLI is double frame rate, has stutter and GPU usage fluctuating. Surely GPU usage should be 100% in SLI mode too? Although, in BF3 it's not either. I'll try some other games and see.

Crysis 3 showed 100% GPU usage over both GPUs.
Seems BF4 not using 100% GPU when in SLI is causing the stuttering. Although, BF3 doesn't stutter or use 100% of both GPUs so maybe it is Windows 7... Or a CPU bottleneck :(

I think it might just be SLI at the moment mate. Considering you're using 1440P anyway. I was having dire SLI performance with Windows 7 on the original beta build. It was night and day compared with W8

I'm gonna test the new patch. FPS figures incoming. Just had a quick blast on domination and while this could be a case of placebo central, population placebo, but it seems like there is a bit of a fps boost.

There will be when 11.2 comes out, but thats not ready yet.

Indeed. Some interesting things come with it:

Designed to allow a game to use both system RAM and graphics RAM to store textures, Leblond claimed that tiled resources will enable DirectX 11.2 games to vastly improve the resolution of textures displayed in-game. By way of proof, Leblond showed off a demonstration that used a claimed 9GB of texture data - the majority of which was held in system RAM, rather than graphics RAM.

So could this even out what AMD Mantel will do??

Has anyone bumped resolution scale up to 200%? I tried it and all it did was stutter and lag, but my Gfx cards old. Didn't seem to make the game look much better though.

I dont think you can compare the 2 really. DirectX is still limited by bottleneck that occurs when making draw calls. Also Mantle may or may not offer similar functionality. Considering how long we have known now about Tiled Resources it would be weird if Mantle didnt allow for the same thing considering how much closer the Devs will be to the hardware.

I sincerly beleive that all this 'mantle' business is just AMD trying to milk the idea that they have AMD tech at the center of the Consoles and get people to jump on board of the next gen gpu's from AMD.

I have not seen any evidence that the 280 and 290 offer anything over the 770 and 780/titan.

Nothing, no change, business as usual.
