***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Dxtory works, the fps hit is not as bad as fraps but still noticeable. However the problem is the file size. A few seconds of video is over 1gb in file size.

Compress it then newb :p :D :p

I only have 35gb free space so i won't have time to compress it before i run out of space.

I changed the capture res down to 720p and this made it slightly smaller but still not small enough.

Any other suggestions?

This is my first attempt at recording gaming not using afterburner. Afterburner made it easy with small file sizes at the expense of some quality.

Use the dxtory codec and then just change the quality level to low. looks no different to high but a third of the file size.

Angst you're a star. Will see how it goes.

EDIT

Where does it say quality level?

EDIT 2

Nevermind found it.

I just use pcm, default one. Seems good enough so i never bothered trying the others out.
edit:
Yea just 100% scaling

That's a lot of 'videos' you have stored then :p.

I've got a 640GB back up drive where I store some downloads plus a 2TB progams drive which includes the User folder from Windows. Plenty of space :D.

Get a bigger HDD! :)

I survive on a 250gb Samsung SSD only. :D

Ok so thats better. I can still notice a fps hit but the hit is not that big. The problem i noticed now was when i play back the video it was stuttering a bit yet it was smooth while playing. Any suggestions for that? File size was still pretty big so i might reduce the scaling some.

I got it working ok i think. I might have to uninstall some stuff but i was going to reinstall Windows anyway so no biggie. Losing about 15-20 fps as far as i can tell but i can still record at 1080p full ultra and keep decentish fps.

It stutters for me on playback but when its edited etc and compressed the stuttering goes its just the initial files playback for some reason.
