***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Should be fine, BF games have always been more dependent on the GPU. Is there a reason you're at 3.6ghz? Tried getting a better cooler and going for 4ghz? Or is the chip a poor clocker?

It's going to be dependent on your target frame rate.

1440p at 60fps has a lower CPU burn than 1080p @ 144fps.

If my ninja 3930k rig is running at 70% average CPU @ 4.5GHZ at 1080p, I would say that serious players need a modern 6 core CPU.

1080p, ultra, 2xMSAA (Tried 4xMSAA doesn't seem to make the slightest bit of difference).
45-70FPS, usually hovering around the 50 in a firefight.

Everything feels really sluggish (Movement, running and my mouse)
still its a Beta

GPU usage all over the place!, max Vram used: 1758mb

I have 2GB 680s in SLI - will only be able to test late tonight/tomorrow but will definitely update asap.

If this kills my rig (1440, 2600k, 8GB RAM), I will very likely just sell my BF4 keys and happily play other games in the meantime - not really a deal breaker either way.

Well I suppose I dont mind having to lower the settings. Vram bottlenecks are ugly things.

If you could put a test in at 1080 too that would be ace. :D

We have very similar rigs.

2600k @ 4.8ghz, 16GB Ram and the SLI 670's.

Yeah, shes old and arthritic, Junky Foxconn x58 Motherboard randomly BSOD's to close to 4Ghz, 3.6 seems the most stable.

Its a temporary rig, i hope.

780 SLI is absolutely fine in the new beta.

Just averaged 105.77fps on a 2 minute fraps recording at default 'Ultra' with 4xMSAA @ 1920x1200
FPS Max: 131
FPS Min: 79

VRAM usage peaked at just under 1.9GB

780 SLI @1189/6500 (331.40 driver)
980X @ 4.2GHz

Good to hear about your max vram usage at 1080p with some anti aliasing. That will do me :)

Strong FPS that bro, would probably be even higher with a modern 6 core :D

Maxes my 2GB with 670 SLI @ 2560x1440 without MSAA (1980MB which is so close I'm guessing it's maxed it)
Just like BF3 though, it has "post AA" which uses almost no memory and at this res is all that's needed imo.

60fps though with ultra settings so all is good :)

To sum that up:
If you are happy with only using "post AA" not MSAA then 670 SLI is fine at 2560x1440 ultra settings

Ultra setting only sets some settings to Ultra, the others are left on High, you have to change them to ultra through custom settings

Ah OK - which ones don't click over? Might be a bug to be fair.

When I was testing my 680s at triple-screen I saw usages right up t around 2035-2040 without any VRAM related slow downs.

So at 1080p I might be able to get away with moderate MSAA.

Thanks for the info matey. :)

I'm dreading going home to try this out now - a single GTX 670 2GB is going to seriously struggle @1440p by the looks of it!

Think it's time to cancel my pre-order lol!

When playing with 4xMSAA the fps drop was only small (from 60fps to 45fps) however I noticed some texture pop in. I spawned in an elevator and for half a second there was no textures at all. This kind of thing didn't happen after turning off MSAA. Could be just a bug, but I'm guessing it's the 2GB limiting the game a bit. MSAA isn't needed at 2560x1440 anyway

So at 1080p I might be able to get away with moderate MSAA.

Shouldn't be a problem at all to have 4xMSAA @ 1080p with 2GB cards.
