***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

The more I play this game, the more I want to uninstall it. Not smooth, crashes when I am playing well, crashes when I am playing bad, sound goes but the worst thing of all is the campers. Even when I unload a full clip into them, they turn and kill me...hit regs are poor.

I know mate, that last round especially was pathetic. All the maps appear catered for campers and rocket spamming, plenty of rooftops and foxholes.

Desperately need spawn protection too, I've lost count of the amount of times I've died before I've even had chance to draw my weapon.

Need to half the time for black screen after spawning, spawn protection wears off before you can actually....see.

Campers annoy me, but never win the games (apart from the like of TDM/SDM etc) what gets my donkey is rooftop recons...despise them, 40x scope, rangefinder and the V button!! Easy mode, yes please!

Decent game tonight with Greg, if a little boring and slow.

Slowly climbing the ranks, my biggest problem is that I don't really use different kits other than recce and support, really should start mixing it up a bit more.

Hmm player a little bit of Bf4 on ultra with 120+ fps and then i got like black screen... and i had to restart the PC cause it didn't let me do anything

any fixes known for that?

Well ill be damned, i think ive found a solid solution to the cpu spike issue. The frame pacing bug is still there, but only with vsync on. I play with vsync off and its smooth I will do some more testing and then post up the fix in due course.

EDIT

Frame pacing remains spike free so long as the fps limit stays in place. With the fps cap removed cpu spikes are still present but not as bad as before.

EDIT 2

Ok spikes occur with frame pacing on or off. Solution for smooth gameplay is the fix i have coming + frame pacing on, vsync off, fps cap at 60, or frame pacing off, vsync on, fps cap at 60. I'm going with the latter, for now.

I'm only using on average 65% GPU usage GTX 780's sli, this isn't to good as BF3 uses 98% on both cards most of the time, we need new drivers and game updates me thinks.

I also get stuttering in the single player game, online isn't to bad but it's still not perfect, I have used fraps and the game averages 95fps even when it stutters fps is still in the 90's

This is odd... I get above 90%, usually hangs around the 96% mark on both GPUs.

Performance with an i5 2500K @ 4.5GHz and stock Asus Direct Cu II GTX 780 is good, only occasionally dipping to a lowest of 43fps in very intense moments. The crashes are horrific though, they seem to stop after about 4-6 occurrences somehow, although one did reset my PC.

The game itself needs a lot of tweaking. Some spawn protection wouldn't go amiss, and what is the emphasis on rooftop camping about? Did Dice not realise how irritating that was in BF3? A number of the levels are distinctly average (always beautiful however). I also hate the way the initial LAW will target the nearest vehicle, manned or not, meaning yesterday I was sending rockets at a stationary buggy and not the AA vehicle wreaking havoc just beyond it. Big patches are needed! BF3 was definitely more enjoyable on initial release (and more stable).

Performance is wonderful with my 4.5ghz 3770k and 2x 670's, 1080p 4xmsaa all ultra, 90FOV. No stutter e.t.c

Only tried the Shanghai map with full 64 players that was in the beta so far ( just had a quick go last night).

Only thing I am slightly disappointed in is that gpu usage still isn't wonderful. I upgraded from a 4.3ghz 2500k to a 3770k and hoped this was solve it. It has made some difference though. GPU usage is higher than with the 2500k and minimum framerates are more like 60 than 50 now.

Will do a fraps benchmark run later

A driver from AMD is not going to fix this broken game mate. Nothing can change until Dice/EA fix it.

OK so I installed win 8.1 from fresh (was on win 8). Didn't have any chipset drivers to download, everything bar my monitor was recognised (updated them manually).

Not installed any AMD drivers, game installed and at first I got a "Game disconnected.." connection on a server.

Next game was a UK server and I played out the map for a good 20 minutes - actually receiving scores etc.

Hi Jono,
I have an i5 ivy running 4.6Ghz and 2x7950'5, I'm debating whether to change to the 3770k just for BF4. My cpu usage is 85% and gpu 1 100%, gpu 2 80%. In your opinion is it worth upgrading from my i5 ivy?

AMD Drivers stopped crashed

I updated my AMD drivers last night and didnt have a single crash. The game was also a lot smoother and hit rate detection seemed about right.

Is this just luck or have the server crash issues been fixed?

Well it has certainly improved things but I am still not getting wonderful gpu usage. Minimum framerates have gone up by about 20% I think. To be honest the biggest improvement I have seen from going to an i7 is in Crysis 3. In the long grass animation bits my minimums have gone from about 30fps to about 60fps! I figured what with the new consoles having 8 cores it was wise to get an i7 for upcoming games as I reckon games will be codes to take advantage of 8 cores/threads.

It is a shame as I was expecting more from BF4.

Are you seriously getting 100% usage on GPU 1 in a full 64 player server?

Hows everyone elses gpu usage in the Shanghai map with the full 64 players?

Thx for getting back.

Gpu 1 is 100% I run at 1920x1200 custom ultra. Gpu 2 scales quite well and reach 80% so crossfire works.

The thing is spending 250 on another cpu when I get 85-100fps mins with vsyn off is a lot of money. With vsyn on im constant 60fps so is dropping my cpu utilisation from 85%-90% down to 75% worth 250 quid........Still inbetween..

If I buy a chip via mail order and it doesn't improve things I can send it back right?
