Having an issue in single player. Framerates only 30 ish and gpu usage at 50% or less. As soon as I alt tab (go in windowed) framerate shoots up to 90+ and gpu usage goes up to 100%!?

No such problem in multiplayer.

Anyone else getting similar?

I've not even tried multiplayer so that may well be working ok, but i doubt it somehow.
 
Why do you have to turn it into RED v GREEN?

Because most of the negativity regarding Mantle appears to be coming from people sporting/using Team Green hardware. The chap who commented above for example has a GTX780 according to his signature.

Most AMD HD GPU users I imagine, hope for Mantle to improvement rendering frame rates and reduce cpu usage so are not likely to be dead set against the theoretical possibility this extra free performance may become a reality when its released.:)
 
Thing is, If I were AMD, and I were sitting on a technology that could turn my £200 card into something that could beat my competitors £400 card, then I'd be singing it from the rooftops - especially just before launch of new cards.

Leads me to believe the gains arent that much. The BF4 Mantle patch is only round the corner, they will have an idea of average gains on GCN cards. They'd be 'leaking' all sorts of benchies showing the difference Mantle makes.

Im anticipating a small increase, like 3-5%

Mantle details coming November 13th 1:15pm. Dice technical director Johann Anderson will be talking about mantle. I'd expect we will get a preview of the good stuff then. ;)

Indeed, waiting until after their new cards are released, their competitors new cards are released and one of the biggest GPU-upgrade-inspiring games this year is released....

This stuff should have been covered at the Hawaii gig back in September.

Dunno, Im dubious to say the least, I'll believe it when I see it.
 
I thought it would be quite simple seen as you can see it working correctly once you alt-tab :confused:

weird that multiplayer doesn't exhibit such issues

I just tried running the game without afterburner and it was smooth as silk. Only when i have vsync on now do i get cpu spikes. Guess afterburner is the cause of the stuttering problem with AMD cards. God damn, i really should have tested without it sooner.

Nope i tell a lie. It just works smooth now even with afterburner running. The only thing i can think of thats fixed it is the core parking guide i posted earlier. Will attach some performance graph screens shortly.

I don't think me and you are having the same issue. I am not getting " lag spikes". I am literally getting 30-35fps and less than 50% usage at all times in single player. As soon as I alt tab and I can see the game in a smaller window gpu usage shoots up to proper levels and the framerate goes to 100fps +

Multiplayer does not have the same issue.

Possibly. I think my issues are game issues and yours are driver issues. That core parking thing seems to have fixed my cpu spikes with frame pacing on. So im pretty happy now. Vsync is still bugged, but its a big step in the right direction. This could also explain why very few others seemed to have my issue.

Now just need Dice to release the patch so i can move online.

Ok I have pinpointed the issue I am having. It is as soon as I run the game full screen!?

If I run it in windowed mode ( any resolution) and half minimize the game window, framerates are perfect. As soon as I run it full screen or maximise the game window (even with the game set to windowed mode) I get the problem ( 30fps, mega low gpu usage)

Very weird..

What the hell? Also, why is this only in single player and not multiplayer : /. Also, why would high and ultra post processing REDUCE my GPU usage!?

Have you tried monitoring memory use with this setting at high or ultra. It's a long shot but possibly you are tipping memory over the top. It's one thing you could take of the list of possible causes.
