***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

You do know you have not recorded at 1440P though and did in fact use 1080P?

The res in game was 1440P but the DXTORY scaling was in 1080P. 1440P DXTORY scaling would have been a massive file size and crippled my fps even more than 1080P recording did.

Wish AMD would create something like ShadowPlay.

JapAMD have something like it in RP 2.0 but when he release I have no idea. It uses the GPU to Encode H.264.

Movie recording with real time AVC/H.264 encoding by GPU using AMD’s VCE (up to 1080p) – I already got the encoding working on GPU and it’s fast, but need to change the container format to MKV as AVI doesn’t play well with AVC/H.264 and that should take some extra time. About VCE, the only downside is the encoding size which will be limited to 1920×1080 and that’s a bit sad… - See more at: http://www.radeonpro.info/2013/08/get-ready-for-new-radeonpro-infinity/#sthash.xLgQDqHM.dpuf

To get even matched results you both need to use the same recording software and in game settings.
Dxtory is very demanding software.

I wasn't competing but merely showing how smooth the lines are for me using the very out dated Windows 7 64 bit :p BF4 is supposed to be faster on W8 as well, so I am guessing I am missing a few frames.

For anyone curious, here is my 1400P run

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
8460, 83258, 80, 124, 101.612

Sadly, a caveat of ShadowPlay is only allowing 1080P recording. I also recorded it in 1440P but the file is still 1080P :( Hopefully something will sort that or I will be giving nVidia some stick.

Even with ShadowPlay recording, I was generally sitting around 80fps, so that is a rough 20% performance hit. A little different to the 2% nVidia were claiming but no stutter (like I had in the first release) and very smooth.

Back to bf4 not responding today, been fine for a long time, yet today, pfftt this is worse than colonial marines, at least that did not have bugs, granted it used direct x 5, but it worked.

Joined you in a round just a few minutes ago, no crashes but cant hit squat in this. Yet if i play bf3 ive no problems hitting people at some crazy ranges.

Yeah i saw you when the round ended, i started that map 1/2 way through and was 2 kills and 8 deaths before i got to 12 kills and 11 deaths, Lot and Lots of campy germans :)

the next map played 1 minute and it crashed.

Just did a couple of runs to see how my system is running. Below done on the beta 334.67 drivers

3570k @ 4.6ghz
780 @ 1189mhz on boost, doesn't move much if at all from this

Everything Ultra, 4xMSAA and 16xAF, 1920x1080

Silk road 48 player conquest:

2014-02-08 00:52:25 - bf4
Frames: 218090 - Time: 1849984ms - Avg: 117.888 - Min: 49 - Max: 201

Seige of Shanghai 48 player conquest:

2014-02-08 01:32:19 - bf4
Frames: 91032 - Time: 942938ms - Avg: 96.541 - Min: 66 - Max: 154

Happy with those results

Need advice - I bought myself windows 8.1 after trying it a few weeks back and getting a significant min frame boost with DX. I waited till I tried mantle before I bought as I thought I would get the boost for free, but for me mantle works for about a minutes gameplay and it then starts to drop frames badly. Now on 8.1 my gameplay is very stuttety, especially if I engage v_sync. I spent hours last night trying everything, disabled upls, hyper threading, UN parked cores, back to 13.12, and even did another windows clean install with a new install bf4 again. I can't think of anything else I can try, the only odd point is, in settings for bf4 I no longer have an option for 60 Hz, only 59.94 @ 1080p. Can some please advice.

My advice - Ditch 14.1 and go back to 13.12 drivers.

Are you using v-sync drovers? I'm running a 2700k and 2x 7970 and at 1080 on win 8.1 overclocked to 1100/1575 I'm buttery smooth. I'll still tip to 55 on odd occasion but most of the time I'm 100+. I have motion blur, and in game AA turned off mind. My 2700k runs at 4.6. What have you got your 3770k running at?? I'm on the 14.1 cats as well

Has anyone found a way to Record BF4 in Mantle? tried Bandicam, MSI AB and RadeonPro. they don't work.

Matt, does DxTory work in Mantle?

AFAIK most if not all capture programs currently pull the data out the DX front or back buffer (usually front) would need a program thats been updated to handle mantle's screen buffers (or GDI access - which is usually too slow and/or incompatible for pulling fullscreen games).

And as AMD in all their wisdom haven't released any kind of SDK documentation not even a "hello world" code sample so far I don't see that having been implemented by anyone yet - very much not the way to go about building an API if you want people to adopt and use it - you need to start pushing that reference material out as soon as possible so people are evaluating and getting the code into their heads and hence more likely to adopt it over another standard.

Alight, thanks Roff. :)

Just using PaulyD's results as an example, but with all the arguments over user results-basically not being accepted for truth/validity, call it what you will, it's not been accepted in certain circles last week or so, what's changed?

Good results, particularly for shanghai which is a pretty demanding map.

Cheers mate, I was surprised at Shanghai too, thought it would be lower though always feels silky smooth when playing.

Did include the tower coming down as well, got a little bit too close watching that :D
