will the Beta include the "Mantle" optimisations ?

if its in the core of the software - I'd have thought so ?

I was that with BT but switched to Sky and got 4.5MB. I feel your pain though

Nope, December. AMD probably still trying to fix it so it works

On FTTC myself, can't see why FTTP would be a problem. It just replaces the copper wire from the cabinet directly into your house with a fibre line. Unless by problem he meant getting that done, BT are offering it on demand but it's quite expensive.

seems like a missed opportunity - surely big boosts in the new Beta would have been perfect advert for their new cards

You would have thought so but AMD have a track record for taking their time on things and missing opportunities. The new cards could quite easily be a missed opportunity if nvidia lower their prices to counter against it or release something new when mantle arrives.

Hope he told you about the £500-2000 set-up fee (been researching it as I just got fiber myself on the 25th).

My cabinet is literally outside my house btw.

The chap I spoke with (putting in the fibre cable) said that the fibre is so thin and joining them together is fine but when other utilities like the electric companies go in, they disturb them and very often break the connections.

I read up on it and it isn't expensive monthly but the set-up fee is and the yearly rental is around £500, so in honesty I think it will be a no no.

I was downloading at 8.5mbps (60MB Virgin) but god did it keep cutting me off all the time, nightmare

Just wait a few years, 80mb is fast enough and FTTP will start becoming more common, quite a few places already have it already.

Damnit, beta starts at 9am, I start work at 6.30am, I finish work at 7.30pm, washed, fed, sort the nipper out, bed? Looks like I'm going to have to see what holidays I have left to take at work

One benefit of having a crippling illness, is you do get to play games and watch TV... Take my mind of intense pain and boredom lol. Every cloud..

Although I would trade that in for a fully functional body right now lol.

I don't even get 'sick days'

Not had an illegitimate day off in nearly 4 years, I don't know why, its not as if our management could care less tbh! Just means loosing a days pay
