***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Windows 7 isn't the cause, I run windows 8 and get stuttering.

Isn't?

I've just tested it myself and the difference between Windows 7 & 8 in BF4 is like night and day, it was UNPLAYABLE for me.

Is it unplayable for you?

There is a VAST majority of people on Windows 7 that are having major issues with Battlefield 4, and considering I said I'd NEVER go to Windows 8

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!

BATTLEFIELD 4 is SUPER SUPER smooth on Windows 8, Ive just tested it myself and it's like a completely new game.

Windows 7 IS the cause.

Oh and I have Windows 8 looking like Windows 7 with Start Button :D

Guess I better go download it then.

See if my 3570k can handle 64 players on windows 8

I find hardcore tends to take away a lot of the team elements. So what if I can see where you are, doesn't mean I'm going to be able to hit you lol. :D

Both modes have their perks though. Vanilla softcore you're just a wee bit too padded lol.

But this hasn't been shown... it's been hinted at but proof is a long way away. Especially as it's only a beta as you say.

I hope you genuinely don't believe that and you're pulling my leg :D.

It has been shown by several benchmarking sites and many times by many users in this very thread and other threads on other forums.

I hope you genuinely don't believe that and you're pulling my leg :D.

That's how i feel when i read this. ;)

You need zero tracking skills and far less aim to kill somebody in hardcore.

Softcore is really easy on bf3. You're basically just an indestructible machine of death either on foot or in a vehicle. No need for teamwork, just rambo it by yourself. :D

Softcore for me when I want to fly (self repair is quality) and Hardcore for close combat. Not that I seriously care and I can easily get killed in either mode.

So you aren't pulling my leg. Awkward.

No it hasn't lol. Anecdotal doesn't count really.

That's how i feel whenever i read one of your posts. :D

If you're waiting to see a 2gb card as showing as using more than 2gb you'll be waiting forever. It can't use more than it has, afterall. :D

Still an air of awkwardness surrounding this aiming thing... I still can't tell if you're having me on.

Anyway as this is a GPU forum and aiming is obviously better on NVIDIA GPUs let's change subject :D.

Exactly as this man said. It allows people who can't aim to get kills from spraying and hoping for the best. If you can aim and you play hardcore then you're even more sorted. But it enables bad players to sit in rancid positions mowing you down before you can react due to the bullet damage modifier.

You don't need good aim and you don't need to track to kill anybody. Not to say that everyone who plays hardcore can't aim or anything but it enables people who wouldn't otherwise kill me.

You needdo need good aim in hardcore. Hardcore makes it a bit more realistic. In normal mode you can run out in front of anyone and even though they had the drop on you you can still turn around and kill them. Hardcore makes players use the terrian and buildings as cover in amore realistic way. Project reality for BF2 was a great mod.

Whilst people think they are a better aim in Normal, well yes maybe, but surely the person that gets the kill should be the one that sees their opponent first, not who can bunnyhop spin round and strafe just to get their kill. Hardcore IS for real players who want something a bit closer to realistic instead of normal arcade play. Both have their own skill sets. But it is plaugued by too many campers where they know there is no spotting. Conquest is about flag capture, but all too often it's 20% of both teams going for flags and meeting up for decent firefights whilst the other 80% camp the flags or sit on the edges of maps with sniper rifles so called flag defending. Whilst I don't mind 4 snipers per team in a 64 man server (still too many really) it does make you use the terrain more and the squad need better team work. This is the play style I like. Those who run about lone wolf arcade style, buunnyhopping and strafing must be so concentrated on that crosshair that then miss the immersion and the squad play.

Normal is all about who can get the most hits in the most vulnerable places first.

Hardcore is about if you get seen before you see them then you are probably dead already a bit more realistic. It makes you use the terrain and your squad and team. It makes you use cover. saying that in normal you die if you get hit by a bullet - well that's war son.

Oh yeah it's definitely more realistic but you're kind of going on a tangent to what I was getting at. But you don't need good aim on hardcore. It definitely helps but it isn't as important.

For me FPS are all about shooting and aiming. I tend to stay away from vehicles in BF3 as I'm not that good in them :D. So for me personally, I prefer normal mode as it rewards aim a lot more than hardcore where you can die based on - as you say - who spots who first or who comes behind you first.

Each to their own :).

Freind of mine is a server admin, so I asked him if he'll be on his BF3 server tonight as he was having terrible time on BF4 and our platoon would be looking for BF3. But he says he's gonna be rockin the beta as EA are sorting something out with the beta today. So here's not holding my breath for a 'non-rubberfest' this evening.

Here's hoping!

Let me know if it does :)

Going to get my 2500k on the OB tomorrow too! Interesting to see how that performs.

Actually mini map spotting is part of hardcore Wood. You can enable or disable the mini map. If you have it on you have a vauge idea of where the enemy is. Or you can turn it off and have no mini map. The only thing what's missing is in softcore you run around the map with a big target over your head. Enables noobs like Rusty to track you easier. Its actually funny that you have a dorito over your head in softcore especially when Rusty just said this.

Rusty said:

But Matt, tracking refers to the ability to shoot somebody and track their upper torso / head as they're moving.

Not the ability to spot people. Awkward again.

Not trying to say normal is perfect by any means but all of what you've said there is nothing to do with aiming.

Anyway we're not going to convince each other so let's play our favoured gametypes in peace :p.

I suppose you don't need to track someone in normal. Just follow the dorito hey Rusty. :D

That would require everyone to be spotting which never happens. But even so the ability to track a moving target isn't aided by them being spotted in most cases. That's your hand/eye/sens in combination.
