***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

4670k 4.7ghz cant say I have any issues.
also, if Mantle change the load and bottlenecks we might have a funny situation.
runs decent for me at my resolution.

the netcode improvement and destruction makes it with a great map 100times better than BF3 ever was.

You only have one gpu though mate. You need two to experience a problem with a i5.

Are you running one or more GPUs?

Mantle may make things even worse, by allowing the GPU to hit even higher fps and putting more stress on the CPU.

Mantle is going to boost CPU and GPU performance Kaap. Something about 9x less draw calls frees up the cpu.

The idea of Mantle with Frostbite 3 (in this respect) is to balance load on the CPU across 8 cores, so that no single core is overloaded and holding the others back. That'll suit i7s and 8 core AMD processors.

single card.
all low as far since I like the fps to be as high as possible

and yes, I might need to get an amd cpu and motherboard then ;)
No way I would pay for a 4930k and such when you can have amd 8350 for waaay less.
but likely a 4770k might be the road taken.

I can see a lot of problems with Mantle, if you remove the bottleneck in one place it will move to somewhere else, where it has not caused a problem before.

My gut feeling is if you can get the CPU and GPUs to communicate better it will involve them both working harder.

I think that's the whole point of mantle isn't it? They don't have to go through bloated DX11 API so should be able to work much better together.

This could throw up some strange things like having to reduce the overclock on GPUs (due to running higher fps).

I think Mantle will work but it won't be as big an improvement as AMD would have us think, but it will be a nice little boost.

Badly to all of the above, the GPU isn't far off the strength of the 8800GTX of old.

Well I have the GT 645m 2gb in my laptop and BF3 runs on low-mid settings (still looks great) with a steady 60fps, also runs it on ultra but that's hardly playable at 20-25fps. Will report back how BF4 beta runs for me today :)

And that is bad how? Less overclock, more performance? Sounds good to me. You can always just add more voltage if the extra fps means previous overclocks aren't stable. That's the wrong way to look at it imo, a very negative outlook. The performance remains to be seen but i don't believe AMD would bother with a two year project unless its going to provide a advantage of more than a few percent.
