Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
I'd also recommend waiting for the full release. It's going to be better optimized and all this talk about needing an upgrading could be wasted.
True but I'd stil wager its going to cripple an i5. On the graphics front certainly, we've had one beta driver release, once these mature on retail along with game patches things will get a lot better.
Be careful when buying two dual kits to run in quad, even if they share the same primary timings its not a dead cert all the subs will be the same which may, admittedly rarely, cause issue.
Listen up
Today the beta becomes open, so thousands of fresh users will have the chance to test and provide feedback, please quote this bottom part for me if you would be so kind...

I recommend everyone use their respective beta drivers.
Use fraps for m/m/a and gpuz to record vram, which ever tool you like for cpu stats.
Thank you.
Origin servers are quite nippy, well in comparison to steam they are, took me 11mins to download the beta![]()
MSAA setting ?
Is this not covered in presets? Can't remember, thought each preset set a certain level of msaa I.e. ultra preset = 4xmsaa.
If I'm wrong let me know and I'll change it up to add msaa.
Wasn't sure once you'd brought it up, only managed about an hour on the beta since Tuesday.

CAn't see it myself. The recommended specs were for an AMD 6 core or quad core intel CPU. Whilst I'm all for progression in system requirements for games I cant see this big a jump required for BF4. I hope I'm wrong in some respects and due to the upcoming consoles has pushed the progression marker for develoment on a bit. The alpha on the same map and player size ran fine. A game which decides many will need a CPU upgrade would be sales suicide where many having to afford an upgrade.
The idea of the early beta release was to test the servers to stress them?Maybe and hopefully today there will be a beta update that requires only an i5 or at least upon games release.
I'm all for progression but I think basing hardware recommendations on 3 days of a beta, and having experienced betas before. Basing requirements on the past 3 days BF4 'scenario' is uasually the one which wont be the indicating requirements for the full retail release. My wager will be on an i5 will be fine...........................I hope
The trouble is, most users are saying their GPU's are being held back on i5's. Even chatting to players in game, regardless of AMD or Nvidia, they are reporting terrible frames per second and the CPU is running at 100%. I wouldn't make any move to upgrade till the official release but it is looking like CPU's are being pushed hard in games and not just sitting their at 30% on 2 cores whilst the GPU does all the work.
Bring it on I say![]()
It would be interesting to see someone with an i7 do some runs with hyperthreading on and then off.
Better still if someone has an i7 3930k they can do runs with 12, 6, 8, and 4 threads active.
It would be interesting to see how the number of threads compare for fps.
Nah, it would be boring
I am all out of benching for now, so if anyone else wants to......
Where is Neil when we need him.
I would do it but I can not even play the game properly.![]()
@Matt, should be receiving my 2nd 7970 anytime soon, can you post your settings for gpu's and in-game please for reference, thx
