The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Just savoured the review in PC Gamer.... without a doubt does look impresive and the quoted 10 hours main quest completion does worry me a lil bit however, like the fella just said above - it's gonna be all about exploring and doing as many of the side quests as possible.

Dammit I can't wait for my pre-orders to get in store for pickup!!!
 
Well I couldn’t wait. I had a moment of weakness. Instead of driving home after a jolly into town, I visited my mate's house and watched him play it on his 360. I would therefore like to offer my thoughts on the game:

VATS is both disgusting and funny to watch :D The camera angles work well 99% of the time. A combination of traditional FPS combat and VATS appears to work very well together.

The atmosphere is perfect.

The voice acting is professional and well chosen.

From a graphical point of view it doesn't break any new ground but it still looks very nice indeed.

Oh and Inon Zur composed the soundtrack... :cool: I had no idea!

Shame on you! I thought you were made of sterner stuff! Glad to hear that you haven't poo pood it and have been positive - makes me feel even more hopeful for my copy on the 31st. I just wish that it would hurry up lol!!!

Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead are gonna be my main games now I reckon until xmas.
 
no...its a great game and the vats thing is great too...especially for someone like me who cant aim with a joypad to save his life.

cant wait for the pc version
 
Just enjoyed the review in PCGamer as well - awesome - sounds exactly the way I wished it would turn out, I can't wait to get my hands on it now - I predict many lost hours exploring the wastelands and at least 3 goes to see the main options.

I think the player balanced areas, fixed on the first visit, and allowing for specialization other than combat is a work of genius and I suspect it will revolutionise our expectations.

My prediction
There will be very little or no challenge in the game, just like Oblivion.
The modding community will sort this! Hell, someone might even turn it into a top down time based strategy game!

Little challenge in oblivion? Did you try putting the difficulty up at all?

Nah, 10 hours to skim it. Just like Oblivion in that regard, you could charge through oblivion, ignore 4/5s of the game and say "FINISHED!" like it was a race in the special olympics, or you could actually play it and explore it. Everyone says they want open world, then when they get open world they moan that nobody's forcing them to explore everything :D
 
[broken record] I seriously cant wait to see what the modding scene does with this game![/broken record]

I haven't been this hyped up for a game for a loooooooong time (so long I can't remember which game it was previously! Prolly Crysis (which was meh) or Bioshock - yeah I think it was come to think of it).

I've just got this email as well. :)
Just cancelled the standard edition and re-ordered the Collectors Edition.
 
Looking forward to this game a bit more know that I heard that the lead designer was one of the designers on Theif 2 - one of the best games ever! From here.
 
Is this game going to be like oblivion but set in the future etc, kinda like a freeform fps/rpg type game?
