The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Just spent another 10 hours on it. Such an epic game. Found sound interesting side quests as well. Also love the black humour I attacked someone I should'nt have and they self destructed destroying us both suicide bomber style!! LOL.

Make sure you untick Sidebar is always on top of other windows (RMB Properties on the Sidebar). Almost every game on Vista has this flashing otherwise.

I've never had the sidebar flash in other games, I have that option unticked but it still happens in Fallout 3 at times, you just have to close the bar.

Good game which I am enjoying playing. Looks great at 1920x1080 fully maxed out on my 40" LCD. One thing I want to know is how inefficient are other games if this one loads instantly with a <1s loading screen a massive world which looks fantastic, and other games need 10s+ for closed enviroments.

I must admit I found the first few hours boring, but now that I have proper firepower and power armour, I am enjoying it. I do find it a bit easy to kill enemies with that auto aim function.

Well I totally love this game, but I have major annoyances with it:

1. Repairing gear seems to cost a small fortune. The durability of the gear also seems to drop rather quick
2. Some of the roaming monsters are just lucirously hard. I went to do a quest to get a violin and died about 4 times getting to the place due to some "Deathclaw" monsters 3 shotting me. I also have lots of issues with the "masterbrain" robots. Some monsters are also just WAY too fast in movement.
3. Monster agro range is ridicously huge, and they chase you for ages.
4. Hovering over anything that's locked and red with an NPC near proc's the "I see you eyeing that" speech, even if you're only turning around and just glance over it not on purpose.
5. I seem to go through stimpak's like they were M&M's.

There are other things but I'd be nitpicking more than anything. Overall the game, whilst basically being Oblivion v2 in a postnuclear setting, is just awesome... especially the story and thankfully for once you actually get your moneys worth. Just glad also I'm not suffering any problems with the game in general - no crashes, no black screens, no stuttering/hitching, no sound problems. I just plays perfectly.

got this game today, i know absolutly NOTHING about it, i really should have read up on this :p

what am i to expect?

Same with me.

Yeah I see a flash to the right of the screen once during every play, never happens again though so don't bother me. I don't see the sidebar however, I see, what appears to look like the intro screen to fallout 3. As it seems to only happen once in game, it don't bother me.

And please people dont just rely on autosaves...

Look what happened to this guy :p (From Official Fallout 3 Forums)

"So tonight as I was about 40+ hours into this game working on a certain quest in the Jefferson Memorial building, I go down into a hatch, the normal "autosaving..." message comes up as usual then all of a sudden the game freezes and decides to say [censored] you to my computer(first time its ever crashed on me). I have a pretty good computer(xp pro, 2.4 quad core, 4 gigs of ram and duel 8800gt) and I was forced to hit the reset button on my computer because I was unable to do ANYTHING. So Im thinking at least my game saved before it crashed...yeah, no. I go to the load screen, I see my autosave game there, try to load it and something really weird happens. It drops me right outside in front of vault 101 with no gear, map has been wiped clean of locations, no quest to do, and it like I have just walked out of the vault except worse because I have nothing, not even any clothes.

40+ hours of gaming COMPLETELY gone. I guess its partly my fault for relying on autosaving but this should never happen in any game. If theres any way to fix this let me know...otherwise I want my $60 back Bethesda basically stole from me."

it is very like oblivion with guns but it's much better tbh. i'd advise you to take your time and explore, i'm a fair few hours into it but i've only done 2 of the main quest missions, the rest of the time i've been wandering round exploring, collecting and killing stuff.

i can tell already that i'm going to go through the game at least once more and be the bad guy, i've not killed anyone or robbed stuff yet :o

what a door knob - "my pc crashed after i didn't save it therefore it is your fault you evil computer game makers", but yeah make sure you save it often!

Does anyone know what becomes of the guys who are wounded and you give them pure water (eg Carlos)? I keep giving them pure water and all that happens is my karma goes up.

I am playing a good guy by the way which makes the game a bit more challengine I think.

Doing the exploer quest I had to get iradiated. So I stood next to the bomb for ages till I reached 600! I am now mutated, I think its a good mutation though. My limbs regenerate when they are crippled :D
