The Countdown Has Begun...... Fallout 3

Just a heads up for other nvidia users:

I installed the 180-series drivers (180.43 from guru3d.com) and saw a substantial increase in framerate (around 15% ish over the 178 official drivers). But more importantly - I no longer get the ugly frame skipping when out in the wasteland! Well worth installing in my opinion.
Nice, I hesitated to install them as I think I read about instability problems but I will try them out.

Just had a blast blowing up Megaton, did everybody else who choose to blow it up go on a mad rampage stealing and killing everything in Megaton beforehand?

My Karma up to that point was really good, I had been donating to the church and giving water to the homeless. But I figured if im guna blow it up (so I can get a tennpenny room and marvel at the blast) I might aswell take EVERYTHING.

Killing Moira was tough, but I needed her supply key and It wouldnt let me have it through pickpocketing, so of came her head. Needless to say my Karma is something crazy like Evil Crimelord now, but I'm filthy rich and have all the guns in the world in near perfect condition.

I disarmed the bomb thinking that later on I would blow it up anyway but it looks like once you disarm the bomb that is impossible :(

Moira survives the megaton explosion, so there was no benefit to killing her.

By killing her you missed out on her quests (unless you did them all already?), and also lost the best NPC in the game for repairing damaged equipment. Sure you can repair your own items, but only if you find others of the same item (which isn't always realistic).

One of the travelling sales people is better at repair than her.

I just completed it after having explored the majority of the game. I'm a bit disappointed in the end, but I'm restarting tonight as mega evil :)

I had already completed all her the chapters of her book, I wasn't that foolish. Shame she survives the blast though, she would have been the only one I spaired. :(

I have yet to pay for an item repair, its always so expensive and im frequently finding Misile Launchers, assault rifles and hunting rifles on my travels. At times I have 3-4 of each then repair them all up so I don't become over encombered.

First time I've ever finished a game and then started playing it again immediately. Just finished it for the second time and found loads more stuff. I'm almost tempted to load up an old save game after I'd hit 20 and chosen the Explorer Perk so I can go check out some other locations, but I have this funny feeling I might play it again some time in the future.

Awesome game - best I've had the pleasure to interact with in some time. :D

Like many have said already, its scary how much time can be lost in this game!
A few years ago I played WoW for abit but I think this is even more dangerous. :(

At the moment I have Charon as my party member and also Dogmeat, is it possible to get another party member without losing Charon forever?

No. 1 Party member & Dogmeat is the max.
Ah, too bad, I wanted to keep Charon on hold and try out another one, maybe I will make a save before gettign another one and decide after trying him/her out.

Charon is cool as he has a shotgun and can also kill from a distance

Just started again being super evil. It's difficult being really bitchy to people who are nice in the game, but it's still fun doing it the opposite way.

I've searched this thread, probably missed it as I can't find the answer but how do I find the Family?

Are they the rebels in the supermarket?

Technically, yes. You can get more by doing all the rescue missions and not taking the hostages back to their destination town and completing the quest (Red in Big Town, for example). You can't issue them orders, and it's a bit exploit-y but ... ;)

Good point, I rescued Red and Shorty from the Mutants and escorted them out so at that moment I had 3 people and a dog following me, I also gave Red and Shorty a weapon so I could have used them ....... but I took them back to their town :o

True, but that those characters are somewhat... fragile. When escorting red and shorty back home I was attacked by a couple of super mutants, and a rad-scorpian that I didn't see. As I was taking out the heavies the rad scorpian killed off my two escortees.

Aye. It's not something one can rely on, just a "FYI", if you like. Get enough of them together, stick Doggers and Fawkes in there though and you have your own little army :)
