***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

It is if they wanted to implament the game on the sandbox, try build a map in the sandbox and you'll soon find out

The sandbox will be the greatest part of this game in about a years time when there is lots of custom content the same as crysis 1 and crysis 2 is a demonstration of the game engine as they want lots of other developers to to use it for royalty perposes

What do you expect from a console port with bolt-on DX11, I installed it and tried the DX11 pack and TBH the difference is minimal for the drop in performance you get, some dodgy looking tessellated bricks and the odd improved texture is not enough for another run through of the linear levels with stupid AI, that and the fact the load system was broke after the patch. Uninstalled and won't be touched gain.

You can reduce or turn of tessellation in the AMD drivers.

What is your definition of this word ?

I know, still doesnt take away from the fact that this is a cheap trick to make one vendors card perform better. Thought those days were long in the past.

Hey it's a TWIMTBP title, should have seen it comming. And yeah I think it was implemented to show Nvidia as the better performer in crysis 2. You should start a thread on it in the GFX forum.

In dx9 mode theres not much between the cards, dx11 obviously has a bias to nvidia cards, so no real fair comparison can be drawn.

From the tessellation benchmarks I have seen with the 6950/70 they are up there with the 570/580 cards. Then again if the tessellation in CR2 is similarly implemented they way it is the heaven extreme tessellation bench then yeah Nvidia will be a fair bit faster.

Crysis 2

what just becuse its also on consoles ?

not that is primarily deisgned on pc with the sandbox for the content to be made then ported over to the consoles ?

wouldnt this make it a PC Port to consoles ?

not a game made for consoles and ported on to the pc is it which is the meaning of a console port

So what are you saying, they didn't have that much control over what objects got affected by tressellation?

Have a look at the picture below on this basic map i just did, which i set the water level to high to show it will still render through the surface as it is the way it works

The article already stated it wasn't being rendered, but the fact that its there means it has to be processed anyway.

Err game ships in DX9, the game shipped with 3 GFX settings, it shipped with aim assist and press start to play both of which were patched out, it has some of the lowest textures I have seen in a game for years, the destruction and physics is noway near the quality of the orginal crysis, the levels have turned in to linear one way roots compared to the open sand box style of crysis. Crysis 2 may have been developed on PC but its game mechanics and level design is completely console oriented, the game was made for consoles if you can't see that then you need to open your eyes.

If thats the case then why are you still banging on about it in this thread. Also maybe you should understand the difference between console port and multi platform game. The term console port is tacked to any game these days that don't live up to someone's standards or max out their 3K rigs.

I said this months ago this game will be a lose lose situation because certain groups of pc gamers have trouble removing their head from their bottoms :D

This is not a console problem it is the COD syndrome Crtek are trying to follow with the liner game play as it tries for the whole epic cinema value thats why the whole sandbox enviroment has gone and tbh there wasnt that many diffrent ways you could attack a situation in crysis 1 there are just as many option with crysis 2 all be it more confined

but yer the auto and lack of GFX options when shipped made me hate the game to begin with

personally i think they have redemed them seleves as the DX11 looks stunning and is quite well optimised and dont cripple your system plus from august the sandbox will be free to use for anyone who dont even own the game so there is going to be a lot of good content for free out there it your loss if you dont want to play the game so why keep complaining about it if its such a poor console port ?

What the heck is this...

Crysis 2 DX11 CrossFire profile update will be in next weeks CAP update

For Crysis 2 DX11 CF performance - we actually have pretty good scaling, so no new CAP is needed

We're looking at Crysis 2 in general to see what optimizations can be enabled to improve perf. But this will take some time

Have not read this thead as its huge.

However i have just completed crysis 2, the first crysis game i have played, and the first real pc game i have played in detail since desert storm or whatever it was called. (yr 2000) xbox 360 player since day realeased

I am blown away, it may be because i am running it on 3 monitors with settings to extreme but the game had me gripped whenever i played it. While i had to be in the "mood" to play it, the graphics and game play blew me away. Fantastic, also in the 2 months it took to complete the dx11 and high res pack came out which made it better. I'm tempted to play it again if i diddnt have crysis 1 and crysis wars on steam ready for me. I was sure that i was near the end so many times yet it kept going. repetative? a bit, but what game isnt

anything else like this people can recomend?

Now go play Crysis and Warhead and come back to give your verdict again.

Also get Metro 2033 not only is it a great game but it has pretty graphics too.

Okay, i've lost all hope with trying to get this game to be playable, and i'm hoping some of you have either had this problem and fixed it, or know of a way to fix it. Basically, i can play the game fine for a good 5-10 minutes and then the game drops from 30fps down to 1fps and stays that way, and here is what i have done to try and fix it.

-Compatability mode.
-Administrator mode for Steam and Crysis 2.
-Added both Steam and the Crysis 2 folder to my exceptions list on my Anti-Virus.
-Turned Graphics down and everything to performance ingame and on CCC.
-I'm not running crossfire, i was running tri-fire [5970 & 5870] before with this problem but i tried out a single gpu [5870] after and it still remained.
-I've ran Memtest and no errors popped up.
-My temps are fine.
-My CPU usage is fine, i've also tried changing the amount of cores the game uses and fiddling with the affinity level to no effect.
-My GPU usage is also fine.
-Running latest drivers and shiz.
-Other games run fine.
-I do virus scans every week, Anti-Virus is Eset.
-I'm not running an overclock either.

Any ideas?

Take it you're running DX11 and high res textures, if so even with lower quality IQ settings you will be busting the 1GB memory on your card, this could be causing the slow downs. TBH if you have finished CR2 there is little point going back to it and the GFX are not much better in DX11, hardly a noticeable difference. Put it to bed and move on to much better games out there, it really is not worth the time and effort.
