***** The Crysis 2 Thread *****

I've noticed since reinstalling crysis 2 and patching to 1.9, DX 11, and Hires packages, I've lost the "reflex" sight for all me weapons, the option appears locked out. Anyone know how to get it back?:)

Guys, I need help.

Installed DX11 patch and high res texture..etc

I have MSI 580 Twin FrozR II and 2500K @ stock, memory @ stock.

after 10mins of gameplay, green dots appear all over the screen then the game goes to black screen then crysis2.exe crashes.

I have similar problem to this guy:

I tested DX11 with Metro and its running fine, BC2 running without any issue at DX11.

If I disable DX11 in crsis2 menu, then the game works without crashing ?
Any ideas ?

Edit: Afterburner temp = 59c max,
core voltage = 1025

Sounds like the game is causing the drivers to crash, probably a memory leak. Wait for new nvidia drivers?

having this small problem
in fact ive noticed this problem in many other games for years just never tried to solve it

its hard to explain so please watch this video

(720p @ fullscreen is best)

look at the texture on the wall with door as i move back and forth

now do i fix this

using a 570 and 275.33 drivers and all settings are on ultra this happens on both dx11 and dx9

im sure a control panel setting can fix this im just not sure what

remember i dont think its restricted to crysis 2 as ive seen similar things in other games

thanks

i must say what crap ending the game feels very much like starship troopers great build up immense graphics and battle's and just ends with a poor ending :o

I doubt that's fixable in the driver settings. It looks like a problem with the SSAO (or whatever equivalent they're using) implementation.

A lot of the visual effects you see in games - especially shaders - are based off similar code and algorithms (or even the same code in some cases), so it's not surprising that the same rendering artifacts like that turn up in various games.

Seems theres some cheesiness going on in Crysis 2 with tessellation:

Aside from the few excessively tessellated objects, there's one very odd design "feature" -- the entire water surface from the harbor is extended well beyond the shore inland beneath the city. Although not rendered, the tessellation workload for all this wasted geometry still has to be performed, and as expected the Radeons are much more sweated by this extra load:

Do you have the trilinear filter optimisation on? Tried forcing anisotropic filtering?

To be honest if they have built the whole game on the cryengine 3 sandbox which it seems that they have as you can open any level in the sandbox this is how it has to be if you want water on the level as this is how the sandbox works

and i doubt its there to make amd's sweat more as it will also do the same to nvida cards its just poor optimisation at the end of the day nothing else ....

It will rob the nvidia cards of peformance but it'll hit the amd cards harder, so the nvidia cards will appear to handle the game better due to what appears to be a cheap trick.

And i find it hard to believe that the way its implemented ingame is the way it has to be. Is it so hard for them to tell the engine what areas should have tessellation and what areas shouldn't?

What do you expect from a console port with bolt-on DX11, I installed it and tried the DX11 pack and TBH the difference is minimal for the drop in performance you get, some dodgy looking tessellated bricks and the odd improved texture is not enough for another run through of the linear levels with stupid AI, that and the fact the load system was broke after the patch. Uninstalled and won't be touched gain.

You can reduce or turn of tessellation in the AMD drivers.
