The Dell 3008WFP Thread

For those asking about lag , I have had 3 A01 revisions of this monitor and I can
say for sure that if you play games a lot like I do you will definitely notice some lag.

I play arma , vegas 2 , il2 , a little counter strike and company of heroes.

On every game except coh ( which is strategy) I can say for sure that the lag
has made playing more challenging, example on vegas2 my average
accuracy rating is about 50% ish , with the new screen it dropped to about 20%.

Even in IL2 the combat flight sim my gunnery skills are all over the place ,
the lag makes any predictive shooting very difficult because the lag must be about 3 or 4 frames behind.

The only thing I will say about my A02 unit, is that it gets really, really hot at the top of the casing. My old 23" HP used to get a bit toasty, but this Dell gets really warm to the touch. (Not exactly ideal when it is 20' outside at midnight kinda weather)

My 3008 gets very hot along the top as well. Think it's a A01 but i've not got any backlight problems with it or anything. Had it many months now and i'm still well happy with it, such superior image quality.

Guys,

I just got my hands on a 3008 A02.. very happy with it but for the life of me i can't get it to display 2560 x 1600. I'm running it off a GTX280 with the supplied dual link DVI cable. Have tried loads of different drivers, tried an HDMI cable (via the DVI adapter), have installed the Dell driver, and fiddled with the OSD for hours, tried it on an old 8800GTS i've got but still no luck. It'll do 1920x1200 on the GTS but on the 280 the text is blurred - neither will do 2560x1600.

This is actually the second 3008 I've had as I got the original one swapped out because of the same issue. Also just tried a different GTX280 and it does the same thing.

Am I missing something obvious?

Same problem with both DVI ports on the display?

Perhaps a complete clean up and reinstall of the video drivers might help.

Guys I've sorted the res problem.. thanks for your help. Thing is.. I have no idea why it now works.

Yesterday I went out and bought another DVI cable (identical to the others and supplied Dell one) and it didn't work either. I came back home from work a few mins ago, turned it on and it works fine! Amazing screen.. now where's that Crysis disc got to :D
