The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - MODS & TWEAKS

P.S. Is your rain using enb rain? Looks like it to me in those screens. I personally find enb rain awful, looks really weird, I turn it off and just use vanilla

I will let you know, I do want to change it from how it looks, bit too heavy for my liking, forgot the ENB affected the rain.

Also going to try The Grim and Somber ENB, more neutral colours and less in your face shadows, should be interesting.

Realized yesterday that my "The dance of Death" hadn't been working for ages. I hadn't changed it to the Dawnguard version after I got the Skyrim ultimate edition.

Makes the game much more enjoyable imo having the decapitations and random kill moves. Worth putting on the OP.

VioLens is another one but Ive not tried it yet.

The Grim and Somber - Hiricine Preset - Nexus

Hircine, previously known as Grim and Somber Main Directors Cut, has remained the same and only updated to 262. Everyone seems to like this solid and dark preset that makes me think of the dark hunter with its deeper contrast and higher black levels. Hence I went with Hircine for the name.

Verdict -

The ENB as you can see is very dark, definitely make's use of deep blacks for shadows and darker shades of colour. It has an interesting effect when using DOF as the skies especially have a grain effect to add a cinematic age to what you're seeing which works really well. Subscattering on water and rocks looks fantastic as you can see in the last Theives Guild shot, which is something I really like with an ENB.

Climates of Tamerial is a hit and miss mod with these ENB's, sometimes the weather was OK but then sometimes the clouds were a little odd, but the enb author does mention this. If you want a darker Skyrim overall this is perfect for it, however they're 7 more presets, so will try some of them and report back as they're different but feature similar styles, some are brighter, some use grain and film affects.

Overall, the performance hit is normal for an ENB depending on the mods you have, I found in dense grass areas and tree lines I could drop to the 20-30's easily, but I have my grass set to 45, where as 70 is recommended.

Rayeks End - Mini Hideout - Nexus

A small, detailed, atmospheric hideout off the beaten path between Riverwood and Whiterun. If you don't mind getting your boots wet, the sound of waterfalls, and prefer a darker hidden place to kick up your feet and drop off your loot...this may be the home for you.

Verdict -

Probably one of the better custom player homes that have been created as it offers everything you need, in a small space that looks very impressive. They're are custom items placed around to make it feel like a home, and the storage containers all have been named to help you organise your items easily.

I am using a different ENB from the one before, it's the Jyggalag version of The Grim and Somber ENB and will post that up tomorrow morning as it's a more brighter and friendlier ENB overall.

Installed Real Clouds again, but finding that I never see a blue sky anymore.
Not sure I'm 100% about my weather system, ENB & water textures... doesn't look right at all!

Screenshots look a lot better in the rain:

Might try Serenity again, and maybe a different water texture. My rain from Climates of Tamriel looks too "thick" or heavy compared to how it should be, look a bit off putting when walking around.

T.A.Z had the water subscattering perfect along with the weather system, but it was just too demanding.

Looks amazing to me. Clear weather looks great in mine but rain looks very wimpy and well, vanilla.

Looks good, lots of space for lots of different things!
I do like to showcase my weapons and armour, so does look a good place to keep everything on show and organised. Might give it a try when I get bored of the one I'm currently using.

@all, is my way of mentioning mods better? I'm trying to make it more useful rather than just posting screenshots and text, think it's better when they're reviewing properly especially when we're all kinder using similar mods. I will post up my review of the new Grim and Somber preset I'm using, much lighter than the one posted above.

Reviews are great I think ! :)

Would love to have found some in regards to Dragonborn main quest, finish it last evening and thought resetting a skill tree sounded nice so did a save just before it, then reset Smithing since maxed out on it. Come back to Skaal and then went and checked if I could still improve a pcs of armour, which I could (If I remember right when I tried resetting earlier through the skill window it wouldn't let me improve armour after I done it), so thought this is great !

Then I ran away and completed Deathbrand quest too and scouted out the 3 Island's close by, even found myself another Dragon to kill on one of them. Went back to Raven Rock and packed up all my things for return trip back to Whiterun. Once back home I unpacked and sorted all out, then thought I would make me some more Stalhrim Arrows BUT.. I couldn't do any, those skilles had been removed when I used the "Skill Tree Clearing" from the Black Book !

At the time it was time for some "Headbanging of keyboard" then back to my previous save at the Summit of Apocrypha and do it all over again from that point. Wasn't to happy at that point but hey, learning as one going along.. lol

Hopefully anyone else not completed Dragonborn will now be aware of it incase they do same mistake as me. :o

Quick question. Is there anyone that playing Skyrim on a 21:9 monitor and how/what you done to make it work ?? Tried on my 29'' and couldn't get it to work.

Me, download Flawless Widescreen and run that before launching the game, you might have to apply the fix just before running the game each time.

What did you try, and what happened when you tried?
Just tried to launch it on my LG screen and it said "Failed to initialize renderer." and couldn't change the Screen size to the right since not supported.

Ok, thanks. Found the Flawless Widescreen site and downloaded the program but still get same message as above, so probably doing something wrong with it.. lol

In the Configuration menu, what did you set for "Steam Path Matching" ?? I got my Steam on another HDD then the C: one, I changed the path to there but didn't work either. And it saying this in the Status Window: **Searching for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim process, please configure desired settings and launch the game.** But can't launch it on the LG screen. :(

And if any other tweaks needed, what I could see all the rest looked ok though but might be missing stuff. :o

Edit: Ok, got it to open the intro screen by changing the SkyrimPrefs.ini settings to 2560 x 1080 but for some reason the mouse arrow only shows in a small portion of the right side of the screen.. very confussing. Will play around more with it tomorrow and see if I can get it working. =)

Edit 2: Hmm changed back to my Dell screen again and noticed when starting the game that on the Dell (16:10) you had the Betsheda name to the left of the Skyrim logo but on the 21:9 screen it was to the right of it.. bit wierd.. guess got to play around with the Flawless Widescreen settings tomorrow and see if I can sort it... although, was just curious about the 21:9 asspect so if I can't get it working it still all good to play on the Dell. :)

Enable everything in FW for TES: Skyrim, this will set your FOV, menus and loading screens correctly. The only changes I made were in Skyrimprefs.ini and then FW does the rest. It fixes SkyUI as well.

21:9 is a whole diferent level of immersion in Skyrim, get it working! :D

Touch wood all my stability issues are now resolved and I'm running a reasonably modded game. 81 hours and no issues. The only difference from when I had stability issues on previous runs is that I now use enboost and DONT use the USKP's.

Now am I mad to think and stick to not using the USKP's? I'm a bit hesitant to go back and start using them again. TBH the only difference I've noticed in quest bug fixes has actually been minimal so far. All the issues and bugs I've encountered are not actually fixed by the USKP's anyway. I know this is a controversial question but thought I'd ask for opinions anyway. Its almost similar to discussing religion ;)

Of course it could be that the USKP's were never an issue and instead problems are fixed by enboost instead.

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks, got it working by unplugging my other 3 monitors. :( .. Seems like the FW wanted me to run it in eyefinity mode.. hmm actually, maybe should try it on my 3 dells and see if it works there.. lol

Edit: uhmm nope, although eyefinity worked it looked weird so that not the way I be playing it.. guess got to rearrange my monitors and try 21:9 for a while, did look good the brief moment I played it. =)

Edit 2: Got to say fells a bit weird to have the LG 29'' in the middle flanked by 2 Dell 24'' but guess I might get used to it.. will find out later this evening after work and tomorrow when I am off though. Looking forward to play the game in 21:9 though. :)

Played a couple hours last evening on my 21:9 screen, was pretty pleased with the result. =)

But had a weird thing happen to me, not due to the monitor though.. lol .. Walked from Whiterun to Ivarstead to hand in the 10 Bear Pelts for a quest there. Not much happened on the roads heading there, and after handing in the Bear Pelts I walked to Riften.. between Ivarstead and Riften I got attacked by a total of 8 bears and 7 wolfs.. twice bears and wolfs attacked together !!
Atleast I got plenty of skins to make leather out of now.. :p

On a more serious note though, anyone know how I can make the game use less RAM ?? I tried the latest ENBSeries version for the ENBoost but even as I followed the instructions and sorted out any messages that it gave in the game, I couldn't even exit Breezehome without game crashing on me with it installed (tried 5 times, even removing graphic mods I have installed, like SkyrimHD, but no luck), removing it and going back to older version sorted that out though. I still running around 2.5 - 3GB or RAM all the time and each time I exit or entering a building/City I just waiting for a CTD to happen.. :(

Think I saw someone mention they decreased there RAM in a post here, will have a look through and see if I can find it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated though. :D

Edit: Found this post from KingDazza - If you wouldn't mind, could you either post what you did or send the information to me in trust ? Wouldn't mind the .ini files if not asking to much ?? :o I am also gonna look into the Skyrim Performance Monitor you suggested earlier to see exactly how much RAM the game is using on my machine.

Sorted my 2k texture occasional stutter with enboost and frame clamp. Also tested difference with and without enboost. My system ram dropped from around 2GB to now 650mb! VRAM has increased of course and is now up to around 3GB at times. Glad I've got 4GB cards ;)

Either way all running great.

If you use frame clamp, make sure you set it to a figure your pc can handle almost all of the time as when it drops below this value your game will go into s-l-o-w m-o-t-i-o-n :D

To use it, just edit your skyrim.ini and set a value using;

iFPSClamp=

Edit: Oops, just noticed your post was about memory useage, not fps - reading comprehension :(
