The Evil Within 2 (Friday 13th October 2017!!!)

Just completed it. Overall its superb slightly better than the first game. If you want a very well made & mega budget survival action horror game made entirely by the Japanese gods @ Tango Gameworks (the entire game team for programming & gfx were japanese only some of the audio & motion capture was created outside Japan) then this is the best action survival horror in quite some time.

It takes all the best horror themes & gameplay elements from Silent Hill 2+3+4, Resident Evil 4+5+7, Alan Wake & even Quantum Break then blends them into a superb mega budget game. But it also has a few issues the biggest one is the number of non interactive cut scenes there are 2 large sections towards the end of the game where you just sit back & watch like the later Metal Gear Solid series. These go on way too long & they appear to have spent a lot of time & money on them. I just wish they made the base game larger as several chapters are tiny most of the game is only 5 maybe 6 large chapters all the others are tiny & you do not spend very long in them. Still its a lengthy experience around 15-20 hours on easy 1st playthru then time same again if you want all the collectibles & achievements for around 30-35 hours minimum.

Probably the last game of its type (action survival horror) as well as its been a massive financial failure unless digital sales are massive this is going to lose a lot of money for Bethesda they over spent on it there are well over 500 people listed in the end game credits! For the type of game & limited replay value that's a massive amount of money to spend on something which is not going to appeal to a lot of gamers due to the 1st game & being action survival horror with no puzzles in it.

I'm really hoping that digital sales are good for it, because I really want a 3rd game or at least an expansion/DLC because I want to..

...know what happened to Sykes

Yes I really hope that too. They're certainly been spending on advertising - went to see IT in the cinema and Saturday night and The Evil Within 2 was one of the trailers before it started...

Gave up with this game around Chapter 9. No atmosphere, basically felt like a generic, Westernised rip-off of The Last of Us. Loved the first game, not keen on this one at all.

I'm a huge fan of the first game so was really excited for this, but after reading up on the changes and different approach I was turned off a bit.

I don't think I'll enjoy this as much as the first but still may pick it up in the future.
I really wish they had kept the original formula and worked on refining it, instead of taking influences from other games in order to make it more accessible and appealing to the more casual crowd. That's my perception at least.

Still plenty of similar content from the first game I think you would like 2 as it is right now its a kind of grow on you type of game!

anyone know how to get flawless widescreen working for TEW1?

i get the following error message:

"Could not find LetterBoxFix2 injection point, The Evil Within may have updated to a version that is no longer supported.

Try restarting The Evil Within or selecting a different version and re-enable the fix".

cheers

Yeah don't get me wrong I think I'd still enjoy EW2, just not as much as the first game. Other games will take priority of my free time for now, but it's staying on my wishlist :)

The first-person mode via console command on PC looks interesting, wonder if many have played through the game with that setting yet and how viable it is.

I'm a massive fan of the first game. Currently on chapter 7 of the second and whilst it is a bit different it's still The Evil Within and I can't say I'm enjoying it any less than the first one. What the second once lacks in 'WTFness' it makes up for in exploration for me. Yes it's kinda all set in one location but there are only certain parts of that location available at one time so you constantly get new areas to explore and loot which I'm really enjoying. So far I wouldn't say that either game is better or worse than the other, just a bit different; a bit like Super Mario Brothers 2 - maybe The Evil Within 3 will follow a similar pattern and become a more refined Evil Within 1 just like Mario Bros 3 did all those years ago...

Think mines buggered.

Done the signal at the Auto Parts, where you get sent to the Visitor Centre, and the git with the camera does you again on the way out :p, and then you report to O-Neil, then after that, i go back to the Auto Parts, as theres another signal showing on the map there (Green circle), but when i get there, and get the communicator out, i get the Yellow arc with the Yellow up and down arrows, to find the signal to lock-on, but when i get the signal and can lock-on, i just get the 2x guys talking, and thats it, nothing happens, all i can do is unlock the signal, and when i bring up the map again, the Green circle is still showing on it for that signal, like i havn't done it

Mind you, something did come up about the Yellow up and down arrows, but i didn't read it before it went off, so i may have to do something else :D

Does sound like it's failed to trigger something but I don't think these resonance points are necessary to progress in the game anyway, I'm sure you can just carry on...

The shooting mini games were a nice surprise. Fun to play given the incentives. Just broke the highest score on very hard in the gallery mode. I suck at the other one though, can't break into the 70000 points barrier...

Yeah thats what i thought, i'll give it another go tom, and if its still the same, i'll just go and do the Girls Voice, as only one ive got left, see what happens :)

Sorted it! :)

I forgot about moving the car-lift up so i could get below, just need to work out the code for the door now, from the security card i picked up :p
