The Expanse

I found quite a few of the main cast to be weak on season 1, but they improved a lot as it went along. Her acting in particular is much better now than season 1, so I have no issues with it now.

Just started watching season 5. Slow start, not really gripping me just yet.

And, there is already too much Chrisjen Avasarala!! I don't know what it is, her voice, her accent, her acting ability. But, it's just annoying watching her try to act/talk her way through a scene. It's like she is reading off a script and has to pause as the lines are been loaded in. Her timing is always way off. And when she tries to the do the tough guy act and curse, it sounds ridiculous.

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of buying Season 4 on Blu-ray. At the moment this is only available on US disc which, it turns out in a rare move for Universal, has been hard locked to Region A. So unless you have a Region A or Multiregion player you will be SOL and get the not compatible screen when the disc loads up.

We found out the hard way on Thursday evening. Unfortunately over 3 months since we bought from Amazon US as we left it sitting on the shelf. Too late to return even though, at the time of sale, there was no disclosure about regional locking. So back to watching on Amazon prime until/if there is a UK/region B release.

Quite frankly, I think it is high time you emailed their support and asked for the GPS of their letterbox....

Thought season 5 was poor/boring compared to the brilliance of 1-4. I don't care for Naomi so much that i want almost an entire season about her. Just went on and on...her moaning, grimacing, crying in some sort of nightmarish loop. Then there was the Erich character who couldn't act for ****...truly awful. It felt like a competition winner getting a small part in their favourite show...and yet he was there for several episodes. Some very suspect actor choices this season.

As I've said previously, the Book of S5 was so much better. It's not just the support cast that were lacking, the screenplay went off the reservation. And in the book at least Naomi was not all whiny and emotional, Dominique really failed to nail the essence of her back story.

For some reason I watched the first few episodes and didn't get on with it. Which is odd as most of my friends were surprised. Especially the ones who like similar shows

I was the same, it took me 3 attempts to get to a point that S1 drew me in. Actually, let me just find my own old post from Jan 2019 and quote it in :D

Took me 3 attempts to get through season 1 and now as it's apparent from my posts, it's one of my favourite ever shows.

Thing to remember, it takes a full 4 episodes to build characters and let you really get a feel for everyone...S1 is a fairly slow burn story anyway. Just persevere until the end of episode 4, that's normally the turning point for most people.

It's also worth mentioning that season 3 was the 2nd highest rated TV season of all time on RT second to season 5 of Breaking Bad for a time and still maintains a very strong positive score.

Finished catching up with all of it now.

Very good. Each season, or book, is markedly different.

I got a bit shaken at series 4 as it felt very different to the previous, then 5 again very different approach. On reflection each series is good. It's not great or groundbreaking. Seasons 1 and 2 are very wow and 3 was pretty wow moments Lol.

Still very much looking forward to 6.

Might pick up the audio books.

After the meteor strike, my interest with the show fell off a cliff. The Naomi story portion feels dragged out, same as the Earth portion with Amos.

Naomi managed to get worse...or at least the storyline had her speak more so her gratingly wooden acting ends up at the fore more. I haven't managed to watch past the first one or two of S5 because of it. Holden isn't much better.

It's a shame they couldn't find a way to get some decent leads in after the Amazon money rolled in. The main guts of the show is great, just spoiled by B-grade performances from core members.

Doubly annoying because there are actually some very good people one the show putting in good performances! So inconsistent.
