The Fashion Thread... personal tastes, musings, and recommendations

I really want a classic pair of traditional Timberland 6in boots. Searching round for a cheap outlet. Any hints?

I'm just ordering some new Jeans, I fancy getting some raw unsanforized denim so getting some Strike Gold Jeans (Pure Gold 2109's) direct from Japan.

I'm currently wearing some Natural Selection selvage jeans, which have been my first pair of decent quality jeans and they have been fantastic.

Messenger bags... yay no neigh? Any decent reasonably priced ones anyone fancy recommending?

Where can I get some nice shoes from?

Also, where can I get nice shirts and stuff from?

Not fussed on being the latest fashionable items, I just want smart and simple stuff, nothing fancy. Don't mind paying reasonable money if it means better quality (as we all know high price doesn't always = better quality).

Yay, as long as it's got a purpose and not just to carry your wallet, phone and keys in. That would just make it a man bag. As for nice ones, pretty subjective I guess. But I think the Fred Perry ones are quite nice at about £30 a pop I think. The colour are what make them stand out to me I think.

I find Zara do some nice shirts, that tend to be quite nice fitting and stylish. But depends what you're using them for. If it's smarter work shirts then maybe try Charles Tyrwhitt or T. M. Lewin?

I have a Ted Baker man bag that I love.. they aint cheap, but they are supple leather and top quality. It's slightly metro, but it looks good. :)

I'm a big fan of Charles Tyrwhitt for shirts. Comfy, well fitting and good quality. Their selection of casual shirts aren't bad either.

I echo this, I only wear CT shirts. They're great all round, the only thing I'd say is get the non-iron ones, they still need ironing but last and feel so much better. I'd happily pay £100 for them, the fact they're cheap is a bonus.

Also, Edwin jeans kick ***. I've worn them for over 5 years now, it's nice that they do a light weight raw denim. You don't need to wash them, yes they get dirty after one wear but they stay at that level of dirtiness thereafter.

You weren't, it was a rhetorical question.

Fashion with PermaBanned, tip one: if you have embarrassing clothes that are reasonable comfortable, wear them when lounging around the house rather than throwing them away.

:p

Nobody posted these links yet (a very lazy search didn't turn up anything):

I've been looking for some of their handsewn goretex boots too. They retail here for £160. I managed to get them from a company called Karmaloop, they are based in the US for £108. Excellent service too, I ordered them on a Monday evening and they arrived Thursday!
