The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

im not biased or anything i just want the best for my money, i used to support nvidia but theyre not as great as they make out, on the other had ive also had issues with amd, so you could say im unhappy with both. the thing thats troubling me about nvidia is this thing is supposedly 5-10% faster than the 7970 but whats really annoying me is the damn thing is nearly 5 months late! all hail nvidia its the "fastest" but ignore how long it took us to get it out. ps dont buy the 7970 ours is faster.

If I see the 680 can be easily clocked at or above 1300Mhz, I may just push the boat out and get one, anything less then nah.

Also, you never answered my question......who from Nvidia gave you the information that you signed an NDA for? Or are you just spouting about a completely different and irrelevant NDA in an attempt to elevate your perceived standing on here? I actually am under NDA on this and could sum the All the specs and info up in20 sentences. You seem to have taken up most of a thread with your waffle based solely on guesswork and personal opinion. Even if you did have actual facts, you couldn't share yet anyway due to the NDA.

Where did I say I had an NDA from Nvidia? I said that I know how NDAs work. They are designed solely to (putting it very bluntly) keep people's mouths shut.

And they work. Well. So, that had me questioning how a load of benchmarks could make their way onto the internet given that Gibbo had already said that he could do nothing of the sort due to the NDA he was under.

As for waffle and personal opinion? that is the basis of this ENTIRE THREAD. Quite simply - no one has the facts. Because, as you so rightly point out, no one is allowed to post them because they are under NDA.

So surely you can see the irony yes? Why are benchmarks on the internet of a card that is still very much shrouded in secrecy and under NDA?

And, to that I said - Nvidia must have allowed it. Fair enough?

At no point have I stated anything for facts, as like you said there are no facts. When something is pure speculation you go on what you see. And I see photos of the card and test results that I feel are weighted.

maybe you have some kinda multiple personality disorder and are just arguing with yourself?

No I think he just wants every one to know he works for Nvidia so what a great righteous dude he must be.

Wow, so adaptive VSync works with 3D Vision. I was planning to hold off for the bigger kepler but now I'm tempted

I assume you have a GTX580?? I would wait for the GK110. It looks like it will be released towards the end of the year to replace the GK104 as the basis of the Nvidia high end card and probably will come with more VRAM as standard too.

Interestingly it seems to possibly hint that it can work in a mode whereby clock boosting the GPU when rendering the main display if needed and reducing clock but time limiting the side displays so as not to impact overall performance so you end up with less power/heat required but also higher framerates where needed most in theory, how well it would actually work is another matter.

I can see this being good for certain games, but I am not entirely sold on it being good for all game types. I really hope websites test games with it enabled and disabled,to see how gameplay is affected.

uh... he mentioned it like twice that I've noticed in the past months possibly years and neither times was he using the first possible opportunity to make it known.

Yeah I'm of the same opinion... but remains to be seen - I think it something that will probably work very well for casual gamers but be somewhat noticeable to hardcore gamers especially those who spend a lot of time playing fast paced games.

Benchmarks, pics, specs etc have been leaked for practically every major component launch since component launches began mate. Someone always opens their mouth. For all we know, those graphs could have been leaked by an AMD fanboy just for a laugh.

LOL....too much Bill & Ted?? (great film back in the day) ;)

It's been a rumour that Physx will help the card in certain titles. That one has been doing the rounds for ages now tbh.

TBH Cat I feel a lot like you do. I do truly believe it's going to be a great card, and I do actually believe the scores posted in that benchmark.

However, I also feel that we are now being spoon fed the BS to make it look even better and make people want to buy it. A good product will sell itself, so all of the crap talking won't work. IMO, of course, it didn't help Fermi at launch because Fermi was beyond help. No marketing ploys or loaded benchmarks could disguise what Fermi was. Bit of a mess, really.

However, looking at Kepler it really sounds like it will sell itself, so I just wish they would cut out the underhand tactics.

I believe those scores Andy. I do. I honestly and truly believe they are real.

Kepler is not marred by all of the problems Fermi was. We all know that.

However, I know that there is another side to the story. It has nothing to do with me liking AMD and hating Nvidia, or vice versa. I just believe that Kepler is being over hyped. And when I see benchmarks like that it simply makes me roll my eyes because the 7970 will have some answers to it.

Mind you mate I don't know why I am letting it bother me. At the end of the day Nvidia could tell people the card could suck them off tbh. Bottom line is the truth will come out as it always does, and if they are up to something they will soon be found out :)

Edit. And you can add the little "statement" that Nvidia Italy dropped out on Facebook to that hype too.

I wonder if the GTX670 is basically a much lower clocked GTX680?? It would explain the GPU-Z screenshot and also the noise about the limited availability of the GTX680 cards at launch.

What concerns me more is the sub £200 cards in a few months time when all the 40NM cards have dried up from both companies.

Sorry mate with all youre driver problems you must have been tempted, bet you thought about it. lol

:D

Fancy some irony?

Between the years 1997 and 1999 I had macs at home. The Imac Carbon DV models. One for me, one for the wife. I also had a G3 400 power book (cost a bloody fortune !)

Why? because all day long I would have to fight with Windows and by the time I got home I was in no mood to see bsods.

Windows 2000 changed all that. Well, as soon as some clever soul hacked DX8 to work in it I was set :)
