The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

Well he actual implied it was ~$549 USD. Which was same as 7970 launch.

I know that's terribly nice of them, isn't it?

I can see them fingering their anuses and rubbing their prostrates as we speak, whilst playing the sound of a till bell ringing on repeat.

The limited numbers of chips available is probably the reason to aim for the high prices while they clear old stock. Doesn't excuse it but they can price it as high as they can while people keep buying them.

That's the price it was manufactured to be, but AMD under-achieved with 7900's

You're talking out of your lady garden mate as per usual. The 7970's are ridiculously underclocked at 925mhz, and most if not all will overclock to at least 1125mhz and destroy Nvidia's midrange high price derp card.

I honestly can't believe Nvidia are trying to hoodwink enthusiasts eyes with a mid range part overclocked and rebranded high end. It's pure lolz.

Looks like my trusty 480's are going to be in my PC a while longer, there is not one game out that troubles them, and with the silly gpu prices currently there is not one single reason for me to upgrade.

Same with my 6950@70 in CrossFire. I can play all the new games at the top resolution. I would have upgraded for a single card which would allow me to play at 1440p but at this rate it looks like I am going to be waiting a few more months.

No of course I don't have to buy it. I won't, either. I've already made my choice.

So, it looks like nvidia are releasing a card the same or marginally faster than the card you bought, and at a price below the price you paid for your card, yet they are in the wrong?

It was always, in Nvidia's words "a mid ranged part".

show me where this was nvidia's words, the only release from nvidia has been that it will be called GTX680

So as I said, if you are fine in the knowing that they are going to charge you practically double what it is worth in terms of what they had to pay to get it to you? that's cool man.

it's roughly the same die size, performance and price as a 7970, so i guess you are saying you know you were ripped off on that too

with gtx680 you lose 1GB of VRAM but gain driver support which you yourself have said with AMD is so poor that you would willingly smash your 7970 with a hammer

given that you've admitted that you yourself make very poor purchasing decisions, why would anyone listen to what your thoughts are on what they should purchase

From the reactoon in this thread it sounds like nvidia have shot themselves in the foot if this really was supposed to.be the mid range part. Maybe they have been bitten by problems with large dies and decided to stick with small dies? Maybe this is.the flagship part until the refresh?

Anyway i.dont really see the problem with the pricing, it slightly outperforms the 7970 and costs slightly more by the looks of things. I wont be buying either but if you want the top end you pay the premium.
