The first "proper" Kepler news Fri 17th Feb?

'I know it stings, but the only way to make them jump up and listen is for people NOT to buy, just play the waiting game (as much as it grates) - after all, how many of us in reality need this extra performance??'

This, which I said several pages ago. Mid range £200 part for £400+, seriously and some on here actually support this pricing strategy. New Xbox may well be my next purchase.:(

Good find cat, btw are we allowed to post links to competitors or because its a US site it doesn't count?

nope, all my Xbox friends think i'm crazy spending this money, the price of the rig scares them all to hell, i speak to them all the time about this.

Yeah same here, but it doesn't cost that much to build a half decent rig that can play games at a reasonable framerate, about £500 is the sweet spot.

Only enthusiasts want the best most expensive hardware they can find.

Anyway, thats a little off topic. :D

Ludicrous pricing by both sides, it is my professional :p opinion that £400 for a card not intended to make money (eg business) is crazy.

Got my eyes on a gtx 480 which I'm hoping will tide me over for a year at 1920x1080.

can someone explain me whats the point of turbo core ? cause at idle cards go to idle clocks anyway ? and in games you can limit your fps to 60 or 120 fps so it still uses less power if they can achieve that ?

Turbo-core is Nvidias way of trying to increase minimum framerates.

So say you're playing a game at 60 fps while nothing really intense is happening.

But when there is something intense happening the frames might dip below 60 fps, turbo-core then "kicks in" (man I'm gunna get a lot of hate for that) and tries to increase the frame rate so that its more playable.

I don't think it would happen around 60 fps though, more like it would activate anything below 30 fps to try and make games still playable.

So if it can only do 30.fps at 1006 mhz, a jump up to 1050 mhz is going to help somehow?

I think it is more of a gimmick for the uninformed. The sort of people who think a 180bhp turbo car is faster than a 200bhp non-turbo car. Because turbo=fast right :-)

Perhaps we should start a Twitter movement to bouycot these stupidly expensive graphics cards. Once a few million people sign up and this price fixing gets aired on Watchdog, I am sure prices will drop quickly.

Before anyone takes me seriously, I am just kidding. I wouldn't dare to speculate that AMD + NVidia are in-bed together and trying to manipulate market pricing. I mean, it is not as if they have done it before is it:rolleyes:.

Avoid GK104, avoid Tahiti, and stick with what you have until prices drop. We are all being played.

I agree, we've been played for a while now but this takes the biscuit.

Although it would be funny to see both AMD and Nvidia reps on watchdog together... :p

Or pick up a 7950 for £300.
What, spend a whopping £300 on something that is 25% slower than the new GTX560 replacement (even if that is £400)?

Funny how things that are mediocre value can appear good value if everything else around them are massively overpriced. Even at £300, these cards are still 50% more expensive than the 5850/6950 cards they directly replace. We are being stung by market manipulation. Imagine if Intel also gets into bed with AMD and starts hiking CPU prices by 50% accross the board. Anyone remember Grange Hill? - Just say no, no, just say no....

570$ ?!!!

I'm scared to think how Nvidia will translate this price into pounds- probably around £450?..

No way:mad:

Such price wouldnt even drive the prices for 5xx down- pay 300£ for 580 or add another 150£ for extra 30% performance.:(

the price has definitely screwed up pc gaming for sure... everything is just about ok until you have to buy the card, maybe we should complain via twitter....

the card looks about the same VALUE as the MOBO to me, yet it costs the same as the CPU/ COOLER/ PSU/ MOBO..

A campaign wont work because there'll still be loads that'll buy it, regardless of how much we complain

I factor in overclocking performance as well, 680 and 7970 beating performance for £300 sounds much better.
