I think I saw the same documentary the OP did.

It is a perfect example of how weak we've become as a society. I think on an individual basis we can all think of an example of where someone is being really aggressive and a person makes a complaint about them, 9 times out of 10 the boss talks to the complainant, not the aggressive person.

The gypsy's are doing what our recent evolution as told them to do.

The political correct culture as painted aggression and violence as only negative i.e. only bad people use violence etc. It used to also be seen as a way to restore order.

Super rich people?

I have watched most of your postings on these forums with great interest, this one tells me my feelings about you are probably extremely well founded and rather troubling given your alleged occupation :(

I am fortunate to know quite a few people most would consider "super rich" and none are violently criminally active, and all seemingly behave well within the law, generally. All seem to have attained their wealth through hard work with perhaps some smattering of good luck along the way. I can only presume you are referring to drug dealers and serious gangsters? To have achieved a "super rich" status implies your gang are not doing their job very well.... ;)

If its a small percentage of the community that causes problems and lives up to the stereotype, I must be the most unlucky person in the UK. I've lived all over the place and the same things happen as soon as there is a traveling community involved, from breaking down a school gates to puncturing the tanks of vehicles to drain fuel, turning up to peoples homes to brazenly lift high value cars from the drive claiming to be repossession agents, that sort of stuff. Recently a community rocked up and within days, one of the vans was driving around with someone standing on the tailgate looking over fences. Our metal gate disappeared shortly after.

Well clearly violence works, the ME is full of it and it's a paradise.

What needs to occur is for the police to given the numbers to deal with it, preventing crime is always 100% better than responding afterwards and they can't really do that right now. Additionally since society gave up on dealing with drugs, there's very little point in the police wasting so much time on it, it's a pointless battle. A different discussion obviously, but less officers wasting time on operations that mean nothing would more officers on patrol actually preventing crimes from even occurring.

One thing I don't understand though is where the scrap ends up, surely there's a way to regulate businesses that aren't doing their due dilligence on the source of the stuff?

If you look at any traveller site on google, there is invariably a massive pile of fly-tipped rubbish/crap immediately adjacent to it.
At a low level that's all they do all day; fly tip rubbish constantly. At least while they're not stealing dogs, murdering policemen, running people over at illegal funerals, vandalising local pubs en-masse or playing the minority card ;)

I'd definitely support general & proactive firm action against their community, even actions we might think of today as 'extreme'. Stop short of armed round up & deportation though.

When I was living at my Auntie & Uncles I was home alone one night and had a knock at the door, it was a friend of the family. “Do you know your Caravan is half way off your drive”. Completely taken by surprise and in shock we begin to push it back in. “That’s him in that car”. Long and short of it the family friend disturbed him during the process of nicking the caravan, he half pushed it off the drive and turned it, run off when he was disturbed and came back minutes later hoping to hitch it up and make off with it.

It shocked me that even in a reasonably tight knit cul-de-sac, with me a few meters away, that he was able to almost steal our caravan without me knowing. If it wasn’t for the family friend it would have been long gone.

Another one I know about is a local garage we look after. A guy (*****) (ok traveller lol) brings in an old banger for something minor like a boot strut replacement or whatever it was. Upon collecting his car he has a look around it and decides to blame the owner of the garage for causing damage to his car (which he obviously didn’t), then proceeds to demand £500 in cash or he’ll burn his garage down.

The owner of the garage bricked it and paid up. Shocking as he’s a really nice guy.

Many more stories could be told but I think most of us are in agreement. Something really ought to be done about it. Documentaries and public exposure is absolutely necessary for it too reach a tipping point. It’s not that the issues can’t be sorted, it’s just up to now their hasn’t been enough public outcry.

It took a rico case to make an impact with the Mafia which was a much more serious problem, maybe we could implement something similar?

Just round up all the drunk yobs, football hooligans and other troublesome fighty types, drop them off at one end of the latest 'Transient Persons' camp, and point them in roughly the right direction. Problem solved.

Battle Royale! :D

You could put the whole thing on Pay-TV, make a fortune.

Other thought that occurred to me.

Drag all the caravans up to the wrong end of the Knoydart Peninsular and let the tyres down.

My missus used to work for a small accounting and tax firm, they had a lot of gypsys on the books, a lot of them couldn't read or write so put complete trust into their accountants (for the work they would declare:p)

Well her firm got a reputation of I suppose doing right by the gypsys (in reality they'd just all do their jobs fairly for an agreeable price) so a lot of other family businesses came over, there was one business, where it was looked into, had a lot of money disappearing.

My partners firm discovered it must have been the previous accountant who was fiddling them. They'd basically sign whatever was put in front of them as long as you explained why they were signing and what it meant, they didn't understand book keeping, nor could they read. But you'd need balls of steel to fiddle these family businesses. He genuinely disappeared a week or so later. They claimed they couldn't find him either as they were obviously keen for answers. I do wonder!

My other half said they'd come in for meetings and to sign forms and have stuff read to them, they would be pleasant enough, no issues there, but they were always looking to buy something on the cheap "who's Focus is that in the car park, is it for sale? I'll pay cash right now, what about that van? Who owns that, I'll throw in X and Y"

A few years back (probably about 20) I used to work a few doors down from a Café, normal greasy spoon type affair. One week a family moved into a house round the corner. Within 3 days all the shops were reporting that they had been getting goods stolen on a daily basis. One day there was a commotion from the Café and a bit of shouting coming from some kids that were walking away. Apparently the kids had just walked in and started filling their pockets with drinks from the fridge and chocolate from the counter and when caught they gave abuse from the woman serving and the owner caught one and locked the door and called the police.

Within 10 mins there was a huge tarmac lorry turn up and block the road with about 15 of them pile out and start giving the owner threats of violence etc. But what they didn't know was that the owner was a member of a very well known family of gangsters in the midlands area and a couple of minutes later there must have been about 10 cars, all serious money motors inc a Escort Cossie rock up and they were all full of big guys who got out the cars with baseball bats, pickaxe handles, spanners etc.

They backed off after words from the gangster guys and piled back in the tarmac lorry and a couple of the blokes stayed about to make sure they didn't come back and start again. A couple of hours later the police arrived with their blue lights on after everyone had gone and nothing happened. I am assuming that they called and told them they had given them their spawn back but not sure why they came with the blues on 2 hours later.

The family moved out a day later and left the house they were supposedly renting stripped of everything, smashed to pieces, human excrement smeared on all the walls and both the front and back garden full of rubbish, bags of used toilet roll, nappies along with building waste and piles of cured tarmac.

What I find strange is the fact that some people in this thread are so quick to jump to extremes.

When the police get a call about an armed or potentially armed suspect/incident they will send armed police units in response. Many traveling communities are armed with at least legal shotguns if not illegal firearms. Sending in the army with weapons is precautionary and indeed a show of force. That doesn't automatically mean they're going to immediately open fire in some kind of executioner squad.

Some of you guys... you gotta laugh really.

Again, this isn't even all sites, only particular sites with problem gangs. Many members of the public are afraid to speak out for fear of repercussions and even the police are limited by numbers and response. Even if they do end up prosecuting the punishments are so weak it makes the whole exercise not worthy of the investment of time and resources. I'm just thinking about a different solution to the problem.

Why should a handful of extreme people make the lives of thousands an absolute misery?

Yeah, basically this but on a more 'official' level ;)

Sounds great in theory but even the scourge of the earth have human rights unfortunately.

It also doesn't help that we're encouraged not to defend ourselves by the state (that's their job apparently) not allowed firearms for the basis of home defense for example.

I'm sure some would try, but that would be highly immoral and I'd certainly prohibit it, if it were up to me.
If you really want to see that sort of ****, there are enough websites hosting badly-shot mobile phone videos.

They only have such rights in theory... Some piece of paper somewhere may say so, but those 'rights' can always be taken away.

Because they are judgemental prejudiced bigoted extremists perhaps

Is that aimed at me?

Because literally the paragraph above the quote says:
Again, this isn't even all sites, only particular sites with problem gangs.

and the OP says:
First of all let me preface this by saying not ALL gypsies, just the bad ones and apparently that's about 10-15% that cause all the problems for everyone.

I mean, I guess you approve of threats of violence, extortion, vandalism, criminal damage, assault, hare coursing, fighting and in extreme cases murder. Those people have rights too, heaven forbid they face any blowback for their actions.

If someone keeps *****ting in the pool you ban them from the pool right?
