*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

I got my black 16gb from the Woking store at 3pm today - no queues and she said that although they had sold out of white ones, they had plenty of black ones in stock.

Slightly frustrated that I get charged for any data/usage for 24 hours after sign-up though. :(

Got in from work and my black 32gb iPhone 3GS was waiting for me :). Just been playing with it and I'm really glad that I've opted for an iPhone over another windows mobile phone.

Stuck in my Exchange account details and it just worked, and just signed up to the Mobile Me 60 day trial.

Also it appears that I got a Jaba 2050 instead of the 2010 with the free bluetooth voucher code for mobiles.co.uk :)

Just waiting for my Switcheasy case to be delivered now!

Cheap iphone 3Gs insurance?

i see that o2 charge £10 per month and CPW are now charging £13.99 per month also, anyone advice something cheaper or even with a bank account that offers it free either lol any advice appreciated!:)

I've only had my 16GB 3G for 6 months but I'm very tempted by the 32GB 3GS.

Am i right in thinking that if i buy a GS on payg I can just pop my 02 contract sim from my 3G in and it will work or do i have to register the 3GS with my sim etc?

Also can i just put the payg sim that comes with the 3GS with the 3G and sell it on the bay?

Yeah I just bought a 32GB GS on PAYG and put my contract sim in (from an iPhone 3G contract). Just activated it on iTunes no problems at all, all up and running.

Can't see why you wouldn't be able to sell the sim either.

Which did you go for in the end, Feek?

I bought a 16Gb black 3GS and moved my existing contract SIM into it, my old 16Gb 3G will go on eBay. I could have done with an 8Gb if they'd done them as I recently bought an iPod and moved all my music onto it so I'm not using much space in the iPhone now at all. Even a 4Gb would have been enough!

Yeah, that's the problem with me really, got the classic for all my music! Still can't decide whether White or Black.

Gotta ring T-Mobile see how much it'll cost to terminate my contract, too.

I can upload some pics of mine in the Switcheasy CapsuleNeo if that's any help.
Ahhh I hate you GeForce - had convinced myself that a case was gonna ruin the iPhone and make it look too big/bulky, horrible and obvious - but that looks sweet.

How you finding it? Hard to install I hear - seriously thinking it makes the iPhone look better...

How much faster is it?

Quite a lot. Rendering web pages is so much faster, if you use your iphone for internet access a lot then it's seriously worth the upgrade.
Opening apps is much faster. but tbh the 3.0 upgrade seems to have sped that up slightly on the 3G anyway. Still a lot faster on the s
Camera is ready to use in half the time and obv takes better pics.
Transitions for H to V are much smoother and faster.
I haven't tried any 3D intensive games yet but the general nippiness bodes well for that

I've also bought quite a few Apps will these go accros without probs? Also are you glad you upgraded (any regrets), I ask this because by the time i sell my 3G for about £300 and bought a 3GS for £540 it will have cost me £240 for the upgrade, I assume it's about the same for you.

old o2 not working online

Hi, don’t know if someone could help, I have a normal O2 contract with web blot-on. I have received my 3GS on contract, but when I put my normal sim in the iphone everything works ok but when I try to go on line it say “could not activate cellular data network: you are not subscribed to a cellular data service”.
If put the new sim in that came with the iphone I can go online ok.
The old sim works ok in the old phone.
Any ideas??

OK not worry got it sorted.

Is there any speed difference between idata.o2.co.uk and mobile.o2.co.uk.

Yeah as mentioned already your apps will be fine. As for whether it's worth it or not, well, the main reasons I upgraded were the extra storage capacity (I only had an 8GB 3G before, now have 32GB), better battery and to some extent the compass :) For me it's worth it mainly based on the storage capacity but so far it's good - the speed increase over my old 3G is generally very noticeable.

I don't think so. Before the 3.0 update all iPhones were using mobile.o2.co.uk - it's only now that 3.0 is out that contracts require idata.o2.co.uk and PAYG stays on mobile.o2.co.uk. I assume that the main difference is that idata supports tethering whereas mobile does not.

Got my White 16GB :) My girlfriend popped into the Apple store in Leicester about 10am, no queues, no business, straight in and sorted :D

Only thing is, I have put my o2 contract sim in the phone and all is working fine except for MMS (and probably WAP when I leave the house) do I need to call o2 for the settings or can I set it manually? :)
