*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

ive got my contents insurance with morethan.com - they have been very good - this covers personal possessions valued up to £500 i think. i pay 20quid a month for all my contents (2x MBP 1x mac pro)

I've only had my 16GB 3G for 6 months but I'm very tempted by the 32GB 3GS.

Am i right in thinking that if i buy a GS on payg I can just pop my 02 contract sim from my 3G in and it will work or do i have to register the 3GS with my sim etc?

Also can i just put the payg sim that comes with the 3GS with the 3G and sell it on the bay?

thats what i did today - put my old o2 contract sim in the 3Gs and works perfectly - i activated the phone with my old sim card - havnt taken the PAYG one out of the packaging yet!

Ahhh I hate you GeForce - had convinced myself that a case was gonna ruin the iPhone and make it look too big/bulky, horrible and obvious - but that looks sweet.

How you finding it? Hard to install I hear - seriously thinking it makes the iPhone look better...

ps3ud0

The only difficult bit about the install is clipping the main plastic shield over the silicone inner. It only requires 20 seconds of tugging to make sure the inner is nice and straight. It's only "hard" when compared to the other iPhone cases on the market.

I put the CapsuleNeo on months ago and since then I've never removed it or had to adjust it at all. In my opinion the slight extra difficulty installing is compensated by the complete dust and scratch protection and how little it adds to the weight.

The opening for the headphone jack is wide enough to accept all accessories that I've tried, and the case comes with silicone plugs for the USB connector and headphone jack to keep them dust-free when not in use. It also comes with two screen protectors which are perfectly cut to size and easy as anything to install, just make sure you use the supplied piece of card to ensure no bubbles get trapped.

All in all, I'm really impressed with this case. I too am of the opinion that the iPhone looks better without a case, but for the minute amount of added weight and size this one provides a fantastic amount of protection, well worth the money in my opinion.

Hmm, I normally have a really strong signal at home, but the iphone keeps dropping off o2 for some reason (Using my o2 contract sim in a PAYG iphone) any ideas why this may be? :(

.

Slightly frustrated that I get charged for any data/usage for 24 hours after sign-up though. :(

is that contract or PAYG? If contract that's a right con!

Ours finally arrived from Mobiles.co.uk this morning (despite getting an email last night saying it wouldn't, half an hour after the phone line to call up and moan closed). I think if they work a bit on communication their ratings would go up greatly as they offer a decent service.

Just a quick query, do you need to "opt in" to get the unlimited data "bolt on" or is this automatically setup? Bit confused as the terms aren't particularly clear.

Battery Life of Iphone 3GS V 3G

Sorry for new thread....

I though since the other one is cluttered now... We keep this thread just RELATED to the speed of the 2 iPhone. I currently have the 3G and wondering whether to upgrade to a 3GS just for Speed but is there really that much difference to justify the cost?

So those of you who have upgrade from 3G to 3GS please comment just on this subject.

Cheers
Andrew

Hi,

Can I just check, I purchased my 3GS yesterday and haven't been able to send a MMS message.

Is it just a case of changing Idata.o2.co.uk to wap.o2.co.uk in MMS settings?

I believe the browsing is working correctly (now using wifi)

Cheers

Almost. If your using it as PAYG then it should payandgo.o2.co.uk :) Once I changed it, O2 sent me an MMS automatically without needing to do anything else.

O2.co.uk said:
Using iPhone with an O2 Pay & Go SIM card

Your iPhone is automatically set to Pay Monthly, so once you've activated the iPhone you'll need to change the settings to Pay & Go to get the things like mobile internet to work. Here's how:

  • Go to settings menu, choose General
  • Choose Network, then Cellular Data Network
  • In the cellular data APN box, change idata.o2.co.uk to payandgo.o2.co.uk - you don't need to change the username and password.
  • Then, in the MMS APN box, change idata.o2.co.uk to payandgo.2.co.uk - you don't need to change the username and password.
  • Visual voicemail isn't available for Pay & Go customers. You don't need to update the APN in this box.

Remember comparisons atm are based on clean installs of mobile OSX on the iPhones. The OS slows down over time somewhat and even the 3Gs will do the same.

I'm sticking to the 3G until the next model arrives, which will a much bigger upgrade.

I restored my new 3GS from a backup of my 3G so I guess that's as fair a test as I can do - and the speed of the 3GS is still huge over the 3G.
