*** The iPhone 3G S Thread - All iPhone 3G S Related Stuff In Here ***

hoping mine will show up today as well, they got about an hour left before its too late. gonna ring them up after that and try and get a tracking number... really hope it does turn out today though, been building up to it for ages :(

I have both a 3G and a 3GS and I have just done a full restore with 3.0 on the 3G so it's as clean an install as possible. The speed increase on the 3GS is very noticeable - even from the small things like browsing through the app store and installing apps.

It's not an amazing difference, as in it hardly makes the 3G look unusable, but it's noticeable.

I'm interested in getting an iPhone, but o2's tariff's are too restrictive and too expensive for what you receive. Therefore, I'm looking to buy an official, unlocked iPhone to use with my Vodafone sim.

Does anyone know where I could buy one? I know Italy is the only european country offering unlocked units but I can't see to find anywhere that will ship to the UK. Any idea's?

Well I went to the Apple shop today to get the dust removed from under my 3G screen. They actually replaced the glass and the LCD panel. Now apart from the back casing my iPhone looks like new.

Do I put auction it for funds for an S version or not???

Thanks for all the help so far, my wife is loving her iPhone 3Gs and I'm counting the days till I get mine hopefully, but I was just wondering: screen protectors, yay or nay? My wife is worried it will reduce the sensitivitiy of the digitizer (well, not those exact terms, she's just worried "it won't work properly").

I've got a screen protector on my 2G and it works fine!

I upgraded my original 2G iPhone to a 3Gs 32Gb today via an O2 shop and I have a question if I may. When I bought the phone the sales girl removed the SIM from my old iPhone 2G and inserted it straight into my new 3Gs stating "it's a 3G enabled SIM" which suprised me as the phone it came out of was a 2G device which I bought on launch day.

When I got home I plugged it into iTunes, did the business and transferred all my music etc across and the phone is working fine and much quicker. Having said this however, it is yet to find a 3G signal and I have have not seen site nor sound of the 3G icon. Now I live in the sticks with a poor 2G signal and no Edge but I am of course concerned that I might need a new SIM to fully enable 3G on my new shiny device.

Any pointers or should it all work fine once I get into a 3G area?

Hmmm Id ring up mate and ask - if its come out of the phone before your iPhone2G theres a chance its not a '3G SIM' (USIM) and therefore could restrict your coverage...

ps3ud0

Yes I will bell them in the morning when they open up again. I never shared the confidence of the sales girl when she swapped the sim from 2G to 3G but she seem confident it was 3G enabled even though it was in a 2G phone.

If you had a 2G iPhone previously then it should have been a 3G-enabled SIM.
