Have to say I'm a bit miffed with mobiles.co.uk

Placed order at 10.45 this morning looking forward to delivery tomorrow, the website states that all orders placed before 5pm are despatched for next day delivery, even phoned up to confirm and sales person stated before 1pm Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised that they would deliver on a Saturday as this is the one day I can be at home rather than having to wait an extra day to collect from the sorting office.

Got various emails and was pleased at how the order had progressed until 5.45 this evening when I get an email giving me my tracking number and stating that as the order had left after 5pm it would not be delivered until Monday. How mobiles.co.uk can state on their website that any order placed before 5pm will be delivered the next day, when they can't get an order out next day placed at 10.45am is a bit of a mystery.

All information states that Friday deliveries are no different to any other weekday in case anyone thinks that its the fact its a Saturday that makes a difference

Looks like I'll be waiting until Tuesday, I've written them a stern email and I have to say I'm tempted to go into town tomorrow and pick on up and then cancel under the distance selling act :(

Also a bit miffed as well. I ordered phone on saturday with the expectation that it would arrive on Tuesday. Got an email on Tuesday saying that the phone is out of stock, even thought the website still clearly states that they infact still do have stock. Def not happy with the service so far tbh.

I talked to the local O2 shop - no stock, O2 website - not stock, Apple UK - ordered..

The bad thing is though that they have been advertising that they have stock from last week, so obviously its very misleading advertising a product stating that you have stock when infact you dont. Didnt even manage to get an apology from them.

Hi,

we have now updated the site to reflect the fact that there is very, very limited stock available.

We have been despatching 3gs orders this week in date order, but supply hasn't kept up with demand.

We expect a large delivery this week which should cover all live orders, and we have been despatching free car chargers as a thank you to our patient csutomers :)

if you've been to an o2 store or carphone's website you'll know that this is a national problem and we're doing the best we can :)

if it's any consolation I'm not allowed to order one until we have plentiful stock regularly :D

Hi Ben, just wondering when the free bluetooth headsets added to the order with a voucher code are going to become available?

Do many people bother with adding a passcode lock PIN??

I've enabled it on mine and although its another few moments added to the unlock at least if it gets lost/stolen they would have some issues getting into it...

If they had to resest all my data would be wiped anyway? Correct?

Cheers

I used it briefly (because it was the only way pre-3.0 that you could turn off the SMS preview) but I don't anymore. I liked it because you can specify that the phone will auto-wipe after 10 incorrect attempts.

The only way they can use the phone is to restore it, and that would wipe the data. All iTunes backups are encrypted too so providing you didn't lose your iPhone AND your computer you'd be safe :)

You could disable SMS preview pre-3.0, but it was a fairly well-hidden option.

A wipe after 10 incorrect tries isn't a forensic wipe, so don't go trusting it too much.

Stock is back in tomorrow, but will be gone by Monday.

Bluetooth headsets - email me? Should have been sorted by now.

Can anyone give me a rough estimation of how fast my iPod Touch is compared to say the iPhone 3G/3GS. I remember reading that the Touch is a bit faster than the 3G, is there any truth in that or is the spec exactly the same, considering the 3GS is faster than both. ;)

my partner has the iPod touch and I've compared it with my 3gs and 3g.

My findings are:

iPod touch faster than iPhone 3g.( Hard to approximate how much faster but it is.)

iPhone 3gs faster than iPod touch.

:)

yes, I did (and included the "wipe after 10 incorrect attempts") as I have an SSH key for accessing our servers in the iSSH app - doesn't really matter that they can plug it in to iTunes and wipe it (if in DFU mode) as all I care about is being able to run our revoke key tool and keep data safe in a timely manner.
