Kind of see where you are coming from, my Blackberry Bold is in for repair so I'm borrowing my mates iphone 3G and at first I loved it but the novelty factor seems to have worn off pretty quickly. Had been seriously thinking about getting rid of my Bold or getting the iphone in addition but not feeling so tempted right now.
 
had my iphone for a week now and it still has the wow factor for me but my few month old imac still has the WOW factor as well:p charged my iphone up thursday morning and it just got to 18% on my way home from town this morning thats with a fair bit of use wifi turned of and a few other bits as well so am happy with that :D

Well its for sure a massive upgrade from the c902

I think i was expecting it to be something that would make me go oh wow!
But i dunno something about it just make's me think is this all it does?

i might as well have an ipod touch and a phone it just feels really gimmicky. It reminds me of a nintendo wii trapped in an ps3 body fun at first but just pritty to look at followed by the apps to have any enjoyment out of the phone. & then you have to jailbreak it to get any decent sence out of it.

Also i have an ipod connection in my car which i run my ipod off , so also me getting the iphone i thought well kill 2 bird with 1 stone ipod and a phone BUT the iphone isnt compatable with the connection i have in my car :(:( so that put a downer even more on it.

So shall return it to 02 by next week

How is it gimmicky? I don't understand that argument. :/

Also you should have checked your cars iPod tool because the iPhones/iPod Touch use a different storage system compared to the older ones which is probably why it doesn't work.

and you don't have to jailbreak it to get any use out of it, that's complete rubbish.

Having not owning a touch i didnt know it had a diffrent connection untill now so i found out the hard way.

Gimmicky, don't know in which way i can explain it just personal pref i guess.

My friend has his one jailbreaked and it just seems a lot more user friendly and customizable from what i've seen anyway.
 
More customizable sure but user friendly? Doubt that really.

It's not gimmicky, gimmick is when you only use something a few times in very rare situations, the iPhone has a lot of tie-ins with the internet thanks to Safari and some very useful applications, I find myself using mine a hell of a lot.

If I had just an iPod Touch I'd be relying on having WiFi connections available rather than being able to have 3G coverage. (which is really good)

That said it's more of a phone for those who want to use all the internet based stuff, yeah I guess if you aren't fussed about having the internet capabilities then maybe it's not the phone for you. I think the phone, iPod and internet connectivity of the thing make it one hell of a well rounded phone, so very well polished and some of the things applications allow you to do are downright excellent. AroundMe application amazes me tbh.
 
The service with 02 is outstanding which im hoping i can still use my simcard and stay with 02.

Hmm not sure what jailbreak my mate has but to turn off 3g/ wi-fi etc .. Click home , slide to unlock , goto settings , then general , then network and then turn off what's needed or on.

with the userfriendly side that ive seen its all on the home screen to turn off those features with 1 flick on the screen. & more which ive not seen.

I just feel that im waiting to be wow'ed! none the less not trying to diss anyone or make out that the phone isnt good , it just isnt for me.

Eh? That's nothing to do with it being jailbroken that's on every iPhone (well 3G+) :/

Not sure you are talking about? Have you installed any applications, tried any?
