The thing I love about this phone is that it just 'works' really well, plus the endless apps that you can get for it you can never get bored really with it.

Only downside I find personally is the camera could be better, but perhaps with the 4G next year they will address this problem.

I went into the o2 shop yesterday wanting a 3G S but I couldnt get one with the o2 Open discount. (30% off any tariff) So I've got an 8GB 3G instead. It is a fantastic phone though and much better than my Blackberry Curve ;)

Have you had a look at an App called Camera Genius?

I downloaded it the other day and it is quite decent though it is new so there aren't as many features as I would have liked. But options such as Anti shake etc does make the quality of photos a bit nicer. Though this is just with a 3g so I guess things would be better with a 3gs. ;)

Take a look:

Hopefully they will add more things to make it a bit more feature packed but it is only 59p so its up to you. :o :)

I just spent a week in the alps and left roaming on so I could email a photo or two home and check the weather etc. Forgot that my exchange email would be syncing all the time and got hit with £150 roaming charge for the week LOL. Oh well :)

So if I want to avoid charges should I just turn off data roaming?

Can I just remove the sim card and still use WiFi as normal? As when I'm in the US I will only want to use WiFi every now and then, along with some iPod use.

just leave it set to off and you'll lose nothing, it's not involved in wi-fi at all.

Just checked, and my data roaming is set to off anyway. What am I missing by it being turned off for UK use?

Nothing since you don't roam to other networks whilst in the UK.

Yeah just turn it off. It just means you can only use WiFi to get net access :)

I'm very tempted to get the 3gs. I posted in the mobile forums looking for a new phone, currently with a k800i paying £20 a month.

I only use it for texting/ringing/taking the odd picture so is there any point buying an iphone 3gs?

Its around £80 to buy the phone then £35 a month...for 24 months...thats nearly a grand

Nope not really, I mean I mainly got my phone for all the internet connectivity stuff, if it was just for texting/ringing and taking the odd picture I'd have gotten a cheaper phone with a half decent camera. :p

Absolutely, same reason I got mine, and on PAYG, so it won't cost me anywhere near a grand, and in about 10months I could upgrade to the next gen one as well.

Do you get the same by going onto the simplicity tariff that you do with PAYG as from what i can deduce you do not get the free wifi as well?
Im not a massive caller/texter and looking at one of the payg bundles topping up £15pm gives you 100mins 100 text any network any time which would probably do me!

BA :)
