*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Well whatever it does there was someone on this subforum who reported that their legit unlocked iPhone locked itself after jailbreaking. I'll see if I can dig it up, I'm 99% sure I wasn't dreaming.....

I can confirm that jailbreaking a legit unlocked iPhone 3g in fact does lock it again - tried and tested (can post a video if necessary!) ;)

Because you could potentially submit a tiny-ised link to a dodgy phishing site or somesuch, and the "clickee" would have no prior warning.

Tiny-ising isn't really necessary on a decent forum site though since the forum software truncates long urls anyway.

So what skins/cases have people got for their iPhone 3G? I am all over the place and would prefer something rubbery and rugged (rather than an invisible shield jobby), like the following:

Here

But i've got no idea if that iWorld site is any good, not sure if anyone here has used it and could recommend it at all? The Apple store is waay overpriced so am hoping to buy from somewhere else...

So nobody used iWorld? Where did you guys get your cases/skins from for your new iPhone?

For all you people that had v1 of the iPhone, if you had the choice for £25/month for 600mins/unl text/unl internet. Would you stick with v1 or upgrade to 3G?

Only difference is, 3G = 18month contract, v1 = pay monthly no contract

Dont know whether to wait and see if contracts go cheaper or a better phone comes out etc
Just dont want to be tied into 18month contract and something better comes out, like usual

Hello,

I got a similar rubber casing for my iPhone 3G when i got it. The rubber ones attract dust and generally look grubby once they have been in your pocket. It annoyed me, so i swapped it for a leather Malware one which has a nice cushion inside. The cushion cleans the screen when it goes in and out, and is quite nice.

My opinion would be to stay away from the rubber cases.

Nice one ill have a look, what about foofpods - anyone got any more recommendations i can look into?

I had the invisible shield but didn't get on with it so took it off (it took off part of my apple logo on the back of the phone in the process though :( ).

I also bought a foof which is fine for me. The phone just slides in, no cords or elastic. I have noticed the phone does work it's way out slightly when it's in my pocket but I like the foof and would recommend anyway.

Nice one, thanks...am just trying to find a reseller that mean i don't have to use PayPal and can pay with a credit card through the website itself rather than over email! Good prices.

Just sat here watching a bit of Outbreak on ITV2, and the iPhone ad comes on in all it's merryness, and well.. That's GOT to be false advertising! I would love to see one of these things work that quickly!!! What a farse.

On the subject of cases, I don't use one when carrying it around- had a Touch for over a year, used to get stuffed in pockets and generally lobbed around and the screen was hardly marked. But when I dump the 3G in a rucksack I stuff it in an iSock, which I got free from Burger King, works a treat. Apple do a box of several coloured ones for a tenner I think.

I take it that wasn't recently was it?

I'd much rather have a burger and get a free iSock than have to pay Apple a tenner and the same for delivery...

Although i have heard from some that the iSocks weren't so great, so this just add's some more confusion into my already bewildered mind! Too many options!

I've had them for my ipods and they have been great. Not sure they're a replacement for a full on case though, if that's what you're after.

No, it was ages ago. To be fair Apple do give you a pack of several (six I think) although you can buy 5 pairs of real socks in Primark for a couple of quid, which would do the job just as well, if a little large :)

An iSock wouldn't stop a determined attack by a set of keys in a concrete mixer, no, but it's served me well. I will say mine isn't an Apple isock though, it's from a coca cola promotion in BK. I've not actually used an Apple item, though I can't see it would be much different....
