*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

This may have already been covered, but I would be grateful for a quick answer.

Is everybody who's upgrading from v1 to v2 at the end of their contracts, or are exisiting v1 users who are not at the end of their contracts being permitted to upgrade to the new phone?
 
Me 2, i got the intial e-mail, but nothing since. Also they said i would get a reply within 24 hours regarding the credit check thing.
 
I called them no mail about the credit check, and they said o yeah all sorted you will have one friday, she went on to say "If the order is in progress you will get one, all orders we cannot fulfill have been informed."

Edit 2: although it says about 'if this is a knowingly placed pre-order then it will be despatched as soon as it is available'. Hmm. Anyone else got this?

I'm in the same boat. Ringing CPW just confirmed they don't really have much of an idea.

'Rang a very helpful women who said that this was normal as it is a pre-order (as it will not be delivered tomorrow). She appeared to be confident that customers who manage to get a transaction number should expect their iPhone to be overnight shipped for Friday.'

I've rang twice and the reps don't have any idea. I had to point out they had delivery 11th on their site, too which he then agreed I would receive it on Friday.

Ah good stuff, thanks for the info. I'll still be keeping my fingers crossed for a lovely tracking number come Thursday.

Everyones that has got this far says "Your order contains an item which is out of stock. We will deal with your order as soon as possible.. Your order should have arrived on Tue, 08 Jul 2008."

Has anyone sold their unlocked iphone to Computer Exchange?

Thinking of going in there tomorrow and selling it, as its far easier than messing about with ebay etc.
 
Ok guys, what's the best plan in terms of selling my "old" iPhone before upgrading?

Would it be better for me to factory reset it, unlock it, then sell it? Is ebay still the best bet?
 
Well that was a waste of time pre-ordering from Carphone WH. Pre-ordered early yesterday. Got email this morning...

We have now processed it through our secure systems, but are unable to despatch the item to you for security reasons. This order has now been cancelled.

That's really odd, perhaps failed credit check? Ordered at 12 yesterday, had no such email.

That's the email you get when you fail the credit check.
 
Right, just got of the phone to CPW.

For those of you that have received the second email, the one that says this:

Pre Orders and Back Orders:

If you knowingly placed a Pre Order or Back Order on carphonewarehouse.com, then you do not need to take any action. We will despatch your order as soon as it's available. We will also e-mail you when the goods leave the warehouse.

Then you will get the iPhone on Friday if you 'are one of the lucky ones' or Monday failing that.

Edit: oh and also, he said we receive a confirmation email by tomorrow to confirm everything.

CW has debited £99 from my account. my order status is: Your order contains an item which is out of stock. We will deal with your order as soon as possible.. Your order should have arrived on Tue, 08 Jul 2008.

has anyone else with the same status been charged for their iphones yet?
