*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

Didn't get mine. Pretty peeved, but it's only a phone. The only problem is it'll now be a hassle to get an upgrade potentially as they seemed to want to see my phone in the store. I've sent it off to the eBay winner, so that's no good!

Does anyone know if they needed any specific details of the old handset when upgrading? IMEI numbers?

Guess I may have to do it online. The upgrade code runs by text doesn't it?

I had a really good experience this morning. Went to O2 in Reading high street at 7 and was busy so thought I'd try Fleet because its a smaller town. Got there about 7.20...5 people in front. Store didn't open till 9am though and the queue was big by then.

The store had extra staff on to deal with the release , had to do contract stuff manually because system was being hammered but this isn't unique to iphone release most saturdays i've experienced this.

All in all i'm a happy chappy :)

Mine is on it's way, but DHell seem to think Inverness is not on the mainland for some reason, and apparently can't do next day delivery to us. Could be Tuesday before I get mine.

That was really pleasant. Went to CPW in Crewe at 9:30, it was already opened (said 10am on their site). Only 2 people in the queue in front of me... paid a cessation fee on my old contract, took out a new iPhone contract and my 16Gb is being delivered to my home tomorrow.

Nice!

Ahhh I so hate O2 - didnt get my iPhone as they told me they cant accept PACs after the first 28days of my contract. Unfortunately my existing contract with TMobile doesnt end for a while...

Was told different on the phone when I rung them aswell :mad:

I just understand why they cant technically - just lost a customer as by the time my contract ends something new will be on the market...

ps3ud0 :cool:

i was 11th in a que of 132 at a bristol store they got my 16gb but the system died so they just gave us the phones (if we were upgrading) took a copy of some ID and filled out a form.

Im syncing it up as we speak.

sweeeet well worth ariving at 6am for lol

Just had my 16Gb delivered, spent about 15 mins looking for the sim ejector tool.

I have to say i had been expecting something more than a fancy paperclip :D

Just got my 16g from Chelmsford. Similar story, (I arrived at 6am and got the last 16g of the 12 they had in stock at O2).

Had to take the details manually, they are going top process them later but let me walk away with the phone. I am on a new contract, so I guess I cant use the iPhone yet? I mean would be nice to be able to sync it up with iTunes for music/contacts while I wait for the call though....grrr....

:mad::mad: :mad:
<epic rant about a phone>
I'm glad you're keeping things in perspective, I mean it would be pretty sad to give yourself a coronary over a bloody phone wouldn't it.

People queueing up at 6am for these things just boggle the mind. I seriously do not get why it merits that sort of ridiculous behaviour.

Amen,

this only happens for macs and consoles as well

I got there at 7:30, not 6 :confused:

I was peeved because they could have told the queue that they'd run out of 16GB models much earlier, and they chose not to. I'll get worked up as much as I want.. I took the time to go there before work.. create the hassle for myself, yet failed because of their shortcomings.

Some people in the queue had been there since 5am just to secure the phone.. I'll get one in two weeks.

I arrived at the O2 at Bond Street at 6am and there was already a queue of 15 people. It was about 100 by the time the doors opened. Anyway, I was in the store at 8.10 and didn't get out until 9.20 because of the computer problems. Bit irritating, but I got my 16GB so can't complain.

I meant others arriving at 6am. To be honest even queueing at 7:30am just doesn't add up to me.... I mean it's not as if you haven't even already got an iPhone (2? if I recall) - what is it about the new one that means you must absolutely have it on day 1 otherwise your whole World will implode?

There's something about this sort of behaviour I just don't get I guess - I can understand going out of your way to queue up for something which has a finite supply (e.g. Led Zep concert tickets, etc) but whilst this might blow your mind - there will be stock of 16GB iPhones again soon. It's not a limited edition device.

It says something about peoples lives in general imo if they consider it totally normal to be queueing up at 6am in the morning to buy a phone. I seriously can't fathom it.

Who considers it totally normal? I've never queued up for a product release in my life and probably won't do so again anytime soon, but I wanted an iPhone and I'd rather get my ass out of bed two hours early than wait several weeks for the stock situation to settle down.
