*** The iPhone 3G Thread ***

I love my iPhone so far, no problems with battery life- a good days use including a couple of hours of mp3 playback drops the battery by about a third. Oh and a good ten minutes of swinging iSaber around :)

I've had two bits of odd behaviour- once Safari crashed, and the phone went back to the Apple power-on logo for about 5 minutes, then eventually rebooted.

Today I let an album play to the end, heard a click, and then it wouldn't play any more mp3s until I rebooted it.

A few minor bugs but nothing to really hurt the experience of such a great device.
 
Bit of a random question this - anyone had problems using an iPhone with an Alpine headunit with the bluetooth addon module (KCE-300BT I think) ? Planning on adding this module to my headunit soon and want to find out about compatibility first.
 
Well went into the O2 store in Manchester on my Lunch today and they had just took a delivery of 5 iPhones!!! Lucky or what!! Took me about 20 minutes to go through the credit checks and activation!

I've got a 16GB Black one on the £45 a month contract, but my girlfriends mum works at O2 so the tariff is actually £31.50 a month! Then I might downgrade to the lower tariff after 9 months!

Not played about with it much yet as I'm in work but will have a proper play about tonight. I've ordered a Zagg Invisible Shield, these seem to come highly reccommended just hope I can actually get it on ok.
 
It looks like the rumor mill is saying that a (Product) RED iPhone 3G could be on the cards.

Think that looks really nice and you’re helping a worthwhile cause! Hope Apple decide to make it however, the image is just a mockup as that is a V1 phone.

The updated Last.fm app is so much more useable. It doesnt randomly crash, and buffers the music a LOT quicker! Perfect for when i am at work, hehe.

Damn you. Can't seem to get a 16gb anywhere. Only 8gb's. I'll be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow and heading into Manchester for sure!
 
Well I cracked. 3G iPhone bought. It's going to cost me £176 to get out of my old T-Mobile contract, so the old iPhone's going to be sold to cover that.
 
Thanks for the Invisible Shield tips guys, however after reading a lot of negative reviews I took it back and got a Gear4 Icebox pro case instead. Its a crystal case and has a built in screen protector also, can post pics if anyones interested.

Finally got my iPhone 3G today, put my old O2 online sim in and its working fine. Had a bit of a nightmare trying to get Mobile Me working on it, it just didnt want to sync and ended up with half my contacts / calendar entries. It wasn't picking up mail neither. I did a restore however and now everything seems to be fine.

This is my first iPhone and im very impressed. Just hope the battery is decent.

I think you might be out of luck, most of Alpine's kit seems to use the firewire pin for charging (which makes sense as it is 12v I believe) - however this method of charging is no longer available on the iPhone 3G. My ainet ipod adapter (KCA-420i) doesn't work with the iPhone 3G apparently.
 
Any reason why my 3g iPhone doesnt charge with my iPod compatible Car stereo? My old iPhone does but for some reason my 3G wont, everything else works fine but it wont charge?
